If you are going to do it for gratis, I have 3 that you can plate for free. Thanks in advance!
I would love to get my Fat Boy aluminium disc wheels gold plated to stop them corroding. How often do you visit Finland?

Some drunk idiot, who didn’t otherwise make too much sense (he probably thought the same about me) was going on about some mild acid that the truckers use to clean their aluminium wheels, does anyone know about this?

"Product is known to the State of Florida to cause severe swelling and itching of rectal area. Product may result in death, blindness, or hairy palms if applied to groin. Do not use as douche without first diluting with lukewarm water by 50%. Use of Aluminum Jelly for PBJ sandwiches is not recommended for children under the age of 12."

Get some Mother's Aluminum Polish and a rag. You'll love the results. "Collinite Metal Wax" is another terrific aluminum cleaner, but it's hard to find unless you have a well stocked boatyard store around.

Mothers or Semichrome Polish. Lots of elbow grease and a boatload of rags will do wonders.
Here's another tip for cleaning badly corroded aluminum: 00 or 000 steel wool, used with a liberal dose of WD-40 or similar light oil Soak a piece of the wool with the oil, and begin scrubbing. Turn and/or discard the wool frequently, as it quickly loses effectiveness. You can take even minor pitting out of the metal with this technique.

Also, 000 or 0000 grade steel wool will remove surface marks (like melted heel rubber from your passenger's pumps) on chrome nicely. Be judicious with this, it does remove some chrome along with whatever else you're taking off.
