LOL, true. Turned 40, grabbed a younger woman to be my bride. Corvette was cheap... 94 used. Ride... 2002 Honda VFR800. Have owned Honda NightHawk, Honda VTR1000, Ducati 750 Paso and Ducati 900 SS.

Next Bike may be a BMW. Someday, hopefully a QUALITY Harley.

Do keep in mind, when I am riding my Honda or Driving my Corvette ..... I don't have company logos all over my butt.

I drive the Corvette because it is one of the most enjoyable cars Americans put out. I loved my Mustang 5.0 also. I guess I wasn't a poser in that one.

Damn, where is my gold chain!

AMF years possibly?

I have a bro that rides a beefed up Aprilla Falco and also a Harley with the 88 engine.

He ride and raves about both. So Harley can't be all bad.

My only Harley experience was a 1200 Sporty. Engine shuddered and did not move when given throttle.

Sat on a Dyna Wide Pig and started the shuddering, Blap, blap, frappp.. motor.

I do admit I am not being fair. But I guess I would have to buy all the clothing apparell to really appreciate a Harley's ride.

Now, to put a leather halter top and leather short shorts on my wife... or even better, my barely legal girlfriend and then go for a ride on the Harley, now that would be sweet.

Potato Potato Potato.

Frapp, frapp, Potato Potato

lol, without Harleys, what would we joke about.

HighwayMan, give us some prose bro!

Music to my ears. But maybe it is time to sell

Actually not. Cause HD has been the best stock in the last two years in my portfolio. Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle and Sun have sucked. But I could always count on the Highwayman to come through. If Harley would take the high road on this I'll bet this will be minor bump in the road. But I can kind of see HD points if they don't settle cause there are a lot of lawsuits without merit or overstate things.

In the paper I just saw an ad for $1000 off on Harleys up through the FXDX . Destination Harley in Tacoma. Hey I looked at HD stock in a pure business sense. As long as there are gray pony tail brothers willing to buy .....

Defending Corvettes

Hey if I could afford one I would. Not because I'm a Poser because the Corvette is world class. It is the flagship of American Automotive Engineering something we can be proud of. Only wish Harley would produce something similiar i.e. the great American sporbike. I know it isn't good from a financial sense but it would be a hoot to root for a Harley in MotoGP or WSB.

Re: HARLEY BUBBLE ABOUT TO BURST?

If they don't want stock in companies that sell crap then I guess we'll be seeing GM, Ford and Microsoft tanking also, just for a start.

Well that stinks, I hadn't heard of that one yet, my Bandit's got about 22k on it now, so I'm good for another year or two, I guess if that problem shows up I'll have to try 'n find a set of newer used stockers or something, so far my '01 has run like a champ, no smoke or jetting issues at all, it ran a little rough on the way to work this mourning, but it was 33 and thick fog, so the throats were probably icing up till the engine got warm.

You know. I agree with you. Once I experience a serious quality problem with a motorcycle I thereafter refuse to ever buy one from that comapny again.

So far I've had to boycott HD, Triumph, AJS, BSA, Norton, Puch, Lambretta, Ducati, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawazaki, BMW and Hodaka.

I guess that leaves Vespa, Ural and Aprilia. I imagine that eventually I'll have to boycott them too.

Does anyone know if Cushman is still around? I may be out of options soon.

This problem also affected the older GSX1100G, one of which I own. The problem doesn't affect all bikes by any means as there are older G's out there with 100K plus on them and no troubles. Maybe its the oxygenated gas that some people are forced to use.

We may just luck out. Since I really like the air/oil buffalo engine for highway, street riding and commuting I have no intention of selling the bike.

Warning!

The following post is full of sarcasm and wit..

Read at your own risk.

When I purchased my Electraglide in April of 2000 they told me that I was part of the Harley "family". I then waited anxiously for my invitation to the summer picnic at Willie G's house and the obligatory exchanging of Cristmas cards. I couldn't wait to ring in the new year at the Davidson home... maybe split a pizza with him on a lazy rainy day at the ranch.

Well, I didn't get any invites, cards or calls from Willie (my brother or is it step brother, uncle, cousin?). What I did get was a 9 million page accessory catalog that looked like it costs a lot of money to produce and a 'Motor Clothing' catalog (perfect attire for The Highwayman, but not for me). It contained ALL of the neccessary items, at VERY list prices, which I SHOULD install to personalize my motorcycle, or wear, to show that I AM part of the 'family' and that I AM experiencing the mistique of owning a Harley Davidson

.

Oh, I'm sorry... I did get invitations, but I don't think they were from Willie G.

To the unveiling of the V-Rod, the 100th Aniv. ed. bikes, the bikini bike wash, the winterizer reiminder, the summerizer reminder, the maintenance reminder, the we've got your parts reminder, the bogus extended warranty reminder (that's a whole 'nother story), the wanna renew your hog membership reminder, .. etc.. but nothing from Wille.

then this happens...

I log on to MO online and !!??

This news really came as a shock to me! H-D making poorly designed and poorly built products? I can't believe that I paid $17,000+ for a motorcycle that's gonna explode like a firecracker at any moment... geez! what is this world coming to, when you can't trust the "Motor Company" to build a proper motorcycle.

You may get an invitation for some frolicking from The Highwayman, but maybe such an image is better left alone.

Re: Defending Corvettes

I love Corvettes, and eyeball the new ones at the dealership near my work, but they still have well below average reliability, and always have had poor reliability.

I put about 60k mi.'s on my STOCK amf 74" shovelhead FLHP with only one front cyl. exhaust valve burning and needing replacement, I think it cost me about $50 bucks to get the valve seat re-ground and a new valve, other than that it was reliable as a brick, I bought it in '85 for $4500 off the WSP auction, and sold it in '89 for $4000, all it cost me was tires and chains, I think if you buy them stock and leave them stock they run forever, The only things that ever broke on my scratch built 80" amf shovelhead chopper was the aftermarket crap I put on there, once I replaced all that with stock HD parts it held up pretty well too, You can look at any Aisian or European bike and find problem areas as well. BMW diode boards? early Suzuki GS alternators? VFR regulators, to name a few. from all the 25 or so bikes I've owned the Harley's were no worse than any other in terms of reliability.

I'm planning on keeping mine, It really is one of the best I've owned, I'll probably buy a road glide in 5 years to celebrate turning 50, plus my daughters will be almost grown so I can make some road trips again, but I'll keep the Bandit for a play bike.
