Which dealer? Crap! If I didn't already own two perfectly good bikes and wasn't working on paying down my debt, I'd buy one of those 1125CR's in a heartbeat. Is that price plus tax then out the door?
Conrad's H-D in Joliet (right by the prison!) Tax, title and license is extra, but a pretty good deal for sure.
I'll ride yours out to you!
You'd have to be one tough hombre to ride an 1125R much further than a couple hundred miles. It's a torture rack.

Is it? How about the CR? I am going to look at one in a day or two if I can get out there.

And that there is the Crux of my own problem.

Ah, such is Life.
But that's exactly why I bought it! Acres and acres of motorcycle, and it's ALL MINE!!! Besides, size does matter. I heard that on teevee just this morning.
Hate to break it to you Ken, but when you get to be our age it's the size of your wallet the women are looking at, not the size of your...umm..."ride"...

After a half dozen marriages, I think he probably got that by now.

I only rode the R, but I sat on the CR. It's not what I'd call a "standard" by any means; low bars, high pegs...too scrunched up for me.
Fortunately for me I am blessed in both ways
You're old and broke? That sucks for you.
Did any of you guys hear that "Queef" noise again?
So, I was cruising blogs today looking at some of the stupid ideas to keep Buell alive and like a bolt of lightning it hit me: Why would HD not shed the whole Buell name? I know that they believe that the dependency of the brand is link to HD because of the parts and distribution, but what if someone could come along and turn Buell into America's version of Bimota?
They could still use all that engineering brain-power and start churning our bikes with different powerplants. At one time Bimota was shipping bikes with Ducati, Suzuki and Yamaha motors in them. Seems plausible doesn't it?
I could see all kinds of interesting pieces come out of that place. Inlines, twins and triples. Hell, Yamaha is developing a 1200 parallel twin that is supposed to be able to crank out about 110hp- and the motor is supposed to be very light. Or maybe the Triumph 675 triple. I'm not saying it's a slam dunk, but it's an interesting idea that could keep Buell developing. Maybe even work on a GP2 bike. If King Kenny can build a frame for that I'm sure Erik can.

Might the bolt of lightning be: Stop listening to the dopes on the Internet?

Funny thing about dopes on the internet. The movie makers are getting sucked in by internet demands too. They get loads of demands from fans saying "We want Sam Raimi to do a horror movie again!" So Sam says, "People want another horror movie." Sam gets up a bunch of money, makes a fairly decent horror movie and guess what? The fans stay away. Just like the demands for "We want a naked bike" or "We want Eric to use a 'proper engine.'"

Dopes on the internet. A sure method to get in trouble.

Well, the V-Rod certainly sells like Hotcakes at a Church Fellowship Breakfast, don't it? Universally LOVED by riders of The Motor Company's product, too.

Wasn't Buell already America's version of Bimota until Eric merged with Harley? Maybe some enterprising businessmen will buy up buell. It is even possible that HD dumped Buell this way purposefully for the tax loss and to allow someone else to pick it up cheap.
Times are a´changing

My take on why Buell is getting shut down is because Erik got duped. He got bamboozled, hoodwinked, flim-flamed.......and not by the eternally evil H-D.........but by the Internet and the fickle so-called American buyer. I think Erik read all those Internet boards that told him if he put a REAL motor in his bike they would buy one. Well, Erik ambled down to the H-D powers that be and presented his case, and bet the house on his new 'real-motor' bike. He was all in. To say the 1125 was a bust is being kind. So times got tough, and H-D called in Erik and let him know that losing all those millions developing that new bike that didn't sell for crap wasn't appreciated. And they told him that in the most convincing terms.....by shutting the whole business down. The lesson for Erik here is not to listen to Internet blowhards that aren't going to buy American anything, much less a sportbike. The closing of Buell wasn't sudden. It was in the making the day Erik dreamed that the Internet blowhards would actually buy the 1125. You know......the one with the 'real motor' in it.
Yeah well, HD sales are down by nearly a quarter and they never put a `real motor` in theirs. Its just that when the times tough the weaker brands take the hit. That´s just how the cookie crumbles. Its the same in automotive business.

Sad to see Buell to go though. The motorcycling world is poorer for this. I suppose we´ll see Jianlings etc to take its place in the future but somehow it does not seem the same.

And those bikes without the 'real motor' aren't losing them money. The Buell with the 'real motor' did lose them plenty of money.

How could Buell be the 'weaker brand' when every one of their bikes have more than 64 horsepower?

"Sad to see Buell to go though."

Why so sad? You bought a 64 horsepower Fatboy, the one that doesn't have a 'real motor'! Since you never even thought of purchasing a Buell, how sad could you be?

You need to go back to the logic school longride. Weaker brand is not the same as weaker motor. You could put any engine to a Plymouth and it still would be dead as a dodo.

And I am sad to see Buell go as the demise of them makes the motorcycling world that small bit poorer. And that fact remains even if I would never buy one, decent engine or worster engine. As I am a cruiser guy.

The real reason behind all this Buell and MV Agusta hulabaloo is money. Or the lack of it, to be precise. Once a corporation starts to borrow money with junk bond rates (15%) you just know its going to be mayhem. Decent engines or not.

Yeah

I happen to like the 1200c.....yea i know im an odd duck.

quack.
Well that makes it two of us. If there is a model that I secretly adore in the brainlessly overpriced, overprestiged and underpowered (well not all) BMW line its the 1200c. What an unorthodox cruiser design. I want mine in yellow.

Ok, I'll go back to 'logic school'. I guess I listened to you over the last 5 years complaining that Harley is going to go under, their product sucks and they 'missed the boat' because of their '64 horsepower' motor. I guess the 'weak motor' argument you have been making for all that time was just a bunch of crap eh?

"As I am a cruiser guy."

Then mourning the loss of Buell is just a dog and pony show. Face it, you and millions of others never really cared if they were there or not. Their passing will help make Harley stronger, and since you are a 'cruiser guy' then you should be happy Buell is gone. Maybe you need logic school.

"The real reason behind all this Buell and MV Agusta hulabaloo is money."

Yup, those companis were both losing it, so they got dumped. Not enough interest in the brands becuase there a lot more 'cruiser guys' that never bought one and never will. I guess you finally managed to say something halfway smart in the last 5 years. Maybe logic school is paying off for you a bit.
