Tell you what guy. You have a right to voice your opinion, but you need to get some facts straight so you won't keep looking like a fool. There is nothing CHEAP about ANY Harley. Anyone who knows anything about bikes will testify to this! Surely there is nothing cheap about racing. I gather from your reply, that you have never been around any kind of professional racing, nor have you ever been around any harley's either. I am a Harley tech. and have been involved in ARCA and BUSH grand national racing a long time. Just get a grip man! Everybody is'nt like you, that is why there are many DIFFERENT things to choose from in life. If you don't like what somebody else likes and you just have to comment on how bad off they are, what do you think that they think of you? Get a grip, man!

I try to ride as much as possible, even during Colorado winters. (I ride a Honda, not a Harley). One thing I find interesting around here. If the snow is off the road, most of the motorcyclists I meet are riding Harleys. And they're not broke down.

It's probably a good thing that they pulled out of Superbike racing. Now that they actually SELL a motorcycle with a motor that meets the

superbike rules, they may be forced to use it. Of course, they may have trouble getting down to the allowable weight limits.... I hear that motor weighs a ton. BTW. How DID Harley ever get to race a motorcycle that they never sold to the public in a class that requires production based machinery.?

Most Japanese riders do connect technology and performance with the price of the products they buy. Most Harley riders connect the name and patriotism and resale value to the products they buy(the latter being the only reason for the majority lately) . Which in most cases ends up being misguided for both. Motorcycles are vehicles of transportation and if kept around long enough, anything can become collectible. Riders of Japanese motorcycles know that they don't have a vehicle that will we retain a high resale value, but that's not important for them. Harley riders buy motorcycles for completely different reasons and resale is one. For about the last 12 years or so Harley has been on a unprecedented run to the point of even dominating the US market in motorcycle sales(that includes all sales of motorcycle sport bikes included) . This is a position that Harley has never really been in before, which is attributed to their well established resale value. Most riders today buy Harleys for image and resale value. This has led to an artificially high demand for Harley an asking price. With Harley market rumored to be softening you should find Harley dealers arrogant approach to dealing with their customers starting to change, because all cycles come to an end and if you don't believe that ask the Japanese and British Bike companies. This also may lead to a collapse of their well established resale value, with the devastating effect to Harley itself.

As for Harley getting out of racing it is a disappoint to see that and hopefully they will return. And maybe some new colors this time lol

And to think this whole thread of hostility and abuse got started by one Harley being unecessarily rude and dismissive of 'jap' bikes. I really do believe people should ride what makes them feel good. It's their money, and they can spend it as they see fit. I was brought up to showa little respect for other people's opinions, just in case they turn out to be right, but some (not all) Harley riders insist on Braying "IF IT AIN"T A HARLEY, IT AIN'T *****" at the top of their lungs every chance they get. If you try to talk reason with these people, they bray even louder, and congratulate themselves, like they've just won an argument. Look back over the postings on this site, and almost all the namecalling and hostility comes from either a Harley fan bashing 'jap' bikes or someone responding to said bashing. I know all Harley riders aren't like that, but the ones that are should take a good look at themselves and ask themselves why they have to act this way.
