Re: Thanks for posting the site

Well,,, those magazine subscriptions cost a lot of money you know, and his allowance only goes so far....

Sad to say but after the "large Chicago-based intergrated defence and space products corp." cut backs and lay-offs this year my charity is definatly beginning at home,, sorry.

Re: Mother nature

well, add in the fact that San Diego county has fewer firefighters per capita than most metropolitan counties in the US and spends much less on fire prevention services, and you're really in trouble. SD county just let the lease expire on their only fire-fighting helicopter a month or so ago, so they were completely dependent on the CDF bureaucracy for help.

Oh, and once the car tax gets repealed, who's going to cough up the $3 billion or so dollars to replace the funding for fire and police services? I guess we'll just have to borrow it and pass the bill to our kids. Or plan on more fires and less help.

And, not that I like outgoing dumbs**t Gov. Davis, he did put in a request last year to get money to clear out dead trees. They received the denial of funds from the Bush administration 2 weeks ago.

Re: Mother nature

Oh, and we might as well get used to these sorts of things, what with global warming and all. Those living inland may reap some benefits though: as oceans rise due to shrinking ice caps, coastal areas will be underwater. Those of us in east LA will be able to watch the westsiders flee to higher ground.

Re: Mother nature

Indeed...here in the Chesapeake Bay area we are still recovering from Hurricane isabel.Nothing as devastating as the Socal fires but some homes were wiped out. I was lucky (only a couple thou in damages)but my mother in laws house was prettty devastated. We've just moved her back in(about 30 thou in damage) but at least her house was salvageable...some weren't. My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by the fires.

Re: Thanks for posting the site

Thanks for the concern, man. My house is against the hills, on the northern edge of Simi Valley. The fire came within 150' of my house, but was stopped by a wash and road creating a natural fire-break. The view looking north from my master bedroom is 100% black from 300 degrees west to 60 degrees east. The firemen have been working their asses off for a week now. I personally owe them BIG time.

Guys, I have a Harley and I love them, but, pleeeeease, enough already! I can't wait for 2004 just so all the 100th Anniversary stuff will be behind us.

And another thing....is it me, or does it seem to anyone else that Harley's color options for 2003 might well have been the worst they've offered in 100 years? Gunmetal Pearl? Please, guys, that's a dull plain gray...and it's fugly.

You're missing my point....

I think it's great that an American company has made it to 100 years with stellar success.

I'm just tired of hearing about it.

I challenge you to pickup any moderately mainstream motorcycle publication, print or web based, and NOT find something about "Harley Davidson's 100th Anniversary".

I'm also tired of hearing about how insane fast the new GSX-R1000 is. There has to be something else going on in MOtorcycle-dom, right?

Those radical right wingers love to get rid of taxes but how are we going to fund essential services. Sounds like SD county is run by short sighted folks like Buz. Bush runs up a deficit is kind of like Buz running up his credit card to buy those new arm chaps i.e. boosts the economy short term but payback is a *****.

Remember those guys the next time

Just remember all of those guys are public employees. Those that work for the BLM or Forest Service are not paid much, I know I used to fight forest fires (BLM) as a way to pay for college. As to the CDF and City Fire Depts, just remember these guys the next time a bond issue comes up to build a new firestation. You can't get something for nothing. For all those right wingers out there: every one wants low taxes but you can't do it at the expense of essential services and our future (budget deficits). Are you listening George W. Buz, and Serasuzy.?

You are such a fukinasshole.

I have this theory that life is a circle and everyone I pissoff or on will eventually come back around to haunt me. I look forward to the day when I meet you little one.

Anyone as small and petty as you is also quite gutless and, when face-to-face with me, will be nothing but a cowering, whithering heap.

What is your problem? How did I ***** you off ? Just cause I mention a few key facts that right wingers seem to miss? I am not gutless if you want to argue facts? But if you want to resort to name calling I will gladly withdraw.
