Because if you wear a helmet, the mass of your head will be almost double. If now you crash in a car, with your seatbelt fastened, your neck will have to sustain a weight 4x as high as without a helmet. Now even you should be able to understand that your neck will never stand such a force, and will snap.

Oh... I almost forgot... 98% of the people who crash with their motorcycle have to change their helmet, because it's so scraped that it looks more like a piece of junk. But not even 25% of them buy a new leather or gore-tex.... Are we getting somewhere here?? Or do you prefere physics?
