Yes. At $100/year it's MUCH cheaper than simply buying a helmet.

And better still - the State gets that money so they can turn it into $10-worth of socialist services to be used at a trailer-park of your choice............

pointless rambling commencing in 3...2...1... go pointless rambling:

interesting article. i wear a helmet 99% of the time, but i'm still glad that my US residence is in florida - giving me the choice. should FL, however, end up reinstalling its mandatory helmet laws of yesteryear, i would obey them - though i'd appreciate having a workaround like this sticker proposal (interesting as it may be) to allow me to take a 20mph mosey down the street for some ice cream, sans brain bucket.

that said, i have to go dark for a few weeks - recurrent surgical learning till the end of june (breast reconstruction, *sigh*). till then, you MOniacs take care and ride safe :)

I wish you luck and hope it works out, but I have a few friends living there. Everyone is trying to get out as fast as possible.

Besides, aren't you Seattle based right now? Michigan will depress the hell out of you. I grew up in and hate South Florida, but I would rather live in FL and Michigan.

The winters are also brutal.

So the state can start enacting laws banning or requiring certain behaviors then allow citizens to circumvent the law with a large enough cash payment?

Does anyone else see this as the tip of the iceberg?

I'm in Seattle, telecommuting to Michigan. I'm working in a startup that's just starting out, and things are picking up, I'm going to start needing to hire people, and it's tough to do development management remotely. Nothing is for certain though.

On the plus side real-estate is cheap as hell there.

Really. What's someone from Chicago got to say about anyone else?

Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tanks of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Jake: Hit it.

Keep in mind that you're calling that a plus BEFORE you've bought. Once you're here and paying taxes, things may look different.

Of course, you might snag a nice lakefront cottage that hasn't yet been pancaked so a 6,000 sf McMansion can go up in its place...
