Excellent Pointl, the pratical side of owning a Harley/Buell

Ok, My wife reminds me about the every 8000 mile valve check, carb sync, etc $400 that the Ninja requires. I have a friend that has a Buell and does all the maitenance himself. Oil changes are a snap he says. Self adjusting valves etc. So you are right Next time I will take a hard look at the Buell.

Well you are not talking about big bikes. In the medium big segment, under 1500cc H-D is doing fine.

Have you ever been to Japan? I have. There is no way on god's green earth they sell more Harleys over there than Japanese bikes. Japanese scooters alone outnumber Harleys at least 10,000 to 1.

"Vtwins are timeless engines. Inline 4's are more costly to maintain and that's why dealers love them."

Paying for my Valve adjustment on my Ninja has made me a believer......Now where is that Buell dealers number .... It would be nice to be able to change oil and sparkplugs and thats it.

Re: good choice

I think they're pretty cool, specialy the one without the fairing (lightning?)

Don't know if I'd buy one but they're definately more along the lines of what I like, just sitting on it at the IMS this year I could tell it would be an excellent play bike.

Kpaul,

You should try to do your own valve adjustments. Purchase a manual for your Kaw and follow the directions. Easily done and very gratifying once you've done it yourself. Usually you have to purchase a device that allows the removal of each shim. Measure and replace as necessary. Anyway, Bush has got to pack his bags and get back to clearing brush in Texass. He only does that for the cameras I'm certain.

Buells are great bikes.

How fast does a bike have to be anyway? I've demo'd the 1200 Lightning and I figured my half life would be about a month if I actually bought one. The torque is awesome. Anyways, I'll stick to my heavy and slow and reliable Electraglide Classic. I've got 35,000 on it and want to see 100,000 on it just for the bragging rights.

That'a what I want to do with my Trophy, so far I've got 15k on it in 9 mos. I want to get at least 100k on it. I plan on getting a playbike like a Buell or Sport glide or Thunderbird Sport or something but the Trophy's my keeper.
