They must have subcontracted AMF to do their quality control. Yes, I know you wienies are going to tell me to just go away. Eat my shorts.

Maybe they should get Kawasaki to build their frames like Harley and they wouldn't have those problems.

Anyone looking for a bike over a liter should get a Boss Hoss. They are real good. Harleys are not made for a full sized man. When my girlfriend, who went to highschool, told me how many cubic inches I nearly laffed up my last can of Shlitz. I said, if you are a little bich or a beginner (same as a bich in my book) you should get the 350CI Hoss not a Harley. She laffed real hard and said it was almost as funny a joke as when I wheelied my Hoss with my grandma on back and she fell off. My grandma was real pizzed at the time. That's okay cause I drover her to get her stiches out even though my pa said it's as easy as taken them out yourself.

Anyway, last week one of the dogs under our porch bites my Mom. She was real pizzed and said I can't work on my Hoss in the kitchen in this winter unless I go and shoot them damm bastereds.

I know, it is very hard to believe Honda has quality control problems; if it was Harley, it probably would not have even made the news, due to how common their quality control problems are, or how they do silent recalls.



Two recalls on the GL1800 has to make you wonder if they should continue to build those Wings in America...

no recalls on the 2003 HD, 2000 BMW and only one on the 1988 HD (and that was for shifter forks that were replaced for free, with +50K miles. Mine were ok....it has 180K now...)



and if AMF had been involved, the recall would not have happened, it would have been just another one of those little problems at the motorcycle unit, on to the bowling balls....

And BMW *should* recall all its recent fuel-injected models for their continual surge/stall problems but, unlike Honda, BMW stubbornly resists admitting problems, preferring to let its customers debug its products. I only wish BMW were as open about its problems as Honda has been.

the fact that HD has no recalls proves what exactly?



that they won't own up to certain issues?



Honda took a long time in owning up to this issue too...



but not having recalls or having recalls does not linearly correlate to a bike's durability and fit/finish.



Hondas DO have problems... they've had issues with the first year Gold Wing, first year ST1300, and first year VFR... recalls on all of them.



but even taking those issues into account, if considering fit/finish and reliability as the only factors of my next bike purchase, i would continue to ride red.

I know! That broken Honda sitting in my garage is merely a result of rider-error. The rider erred in not realizing that he had to pull the engine and replace some tranny gears with upgraded components before the bike hit the 20K self-destruct limit.



Honda could never be at fault.

Harley-Davidson Has Recalled the 2002 Dyna Wide Glide

(SafetyAlerts) - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

has released the following information.

Models: Harley Davidson Dyna Wide Glide Year: 2002

Number Potentially Involved: 1,762

Dates of Manufacture: March - June 2001

Defect: On certain motorcycles, the rear brake line assemblies could

fracture internally. This condition

could allow the line to leak brake fluid, which could cause loss of the rear

brake function, possibly

without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the rear brake line. The manufacturer has

reported that owner notification

was expected to begin during February 2003. Owners may contact

Harley-Davidson at 1-414-342-4680.

After reading all these posts (including my own) and after due consideration, I have to conclude that today's motorcyclists are the most whiny and spoiled bunch of motorcyclists in history. We hear complaint after complaint about what in reality is mostly a bunch of niggly $hit that doesn't amount to a hill of refried beans. "Harleys are crap." "VFRs suck". Etc.



There probably isn't a bike you couldn't buy new, throw on or fill up the saddlebags and ride form coast to coast without worry... except maybe that Russian junk.. but anyone would expect that. There will always be the odd lemon because you can never be sure that some guy on the assembly line isn't really hung over or maybe some guy at the subcontractor is mad at his boss and so sabotages some components. Engineers misjudge strengths. $hit happens, you know.



Most of us would probably complain if we were hung with a new rope.

I agree totally! Bikes overall are the best they have ever been. I suppose people just don't do their own maintenace anymore, treating bikes like cars that go to the dealer for everything. I hope bikes don't just become like another appliance.....

The funniest thing I have heard this week. George Bush cannot legally stop either free trade or U.S. companies from outsourcing overseas. It's called capitalism- get used to it!

Actually that is not correct. Per Excecutive order. What do you do for a living?
