Excellent Points.. I read somewhere that HD doesn't have any Gen X execs . So as a baby boomer dominated company I can see the attraction of the deal. i.e. guaranteed buyout.. i.e. Take the money and run.. move to Florida... and ride without a helmet :)

It looks like sachiwilson did it, or else the forum has it logged incorrectly. Either way it looks really weird. Any explanations anyone?

Soichiro must be doing the twist in his grave.
...for the last few minutes i've been trying to photoshop soichiro's face onto one of the backup dancer corpses in a still photo i have of michael jackson's "thriller" video. i just don't have the time tonight to make it look believable. :(

as for the merger-that-might-(not)-be... brand-loyaly, patriotism, marketing lingo aside, if there is money to be made in it* (and honda sends a case of narita sake to the federal trade commission), anything is possible.

* ...Investors may have been eager to ride the coattails of the Honda rumor because of Harley's lackluster performance as of late. Since November, shares of Harley have fallen 17%. In the first quarter, profits plunged 18% amid tepid sales and a three-week strike at a major production plant. While the strike was a negative one-time event, weak demand and an industry-wide slowdown was at the crux of the slip. Harley is also an unexpected victim of the subprime crunch, its financial services arm battered by higher defaults on its subprime loans... -forbes magazine

I was bored. I've been up near Coloma on the Am River for the past 4 days with 10 families. 30 kids running around camp with super-soakers. Camping and rafting will beat the crap out of you.

Yes, after discussing this with the other mods I am deleting posts that speak only about personalities, including posts that I and the other mods have written previously. We will continue to do so in this thread and elsewhere in the forum.

Carry on.

Well then I guess it's going to get even more boring around here.

I suppose if we didn't care to read someone's posts, we could just click ignore but now our MO nannies are going to do it for us.

Makes me glad I turned down the moderator offer.
