How to Buy a Motorcycle Online

64883 Views 159 Replies 34 Participants Last post by  acecycleins
I have run into 3 people so far who have been victimized by online vehicle sales. I see the scammers on just about every bulletin board, classified and auction site. Too bad we can't come up with a way to send an electrical charge down the lines to zap them out of existence.

BTW, did you realize your address and phone # are on the article?

Re: Posished Frame

Hey! You worn off the tires off of that Brutale yet? Give us your riding impressions.
Re: Posished Frame

He's riding like KPaul at the moment. Gotta break it in right. All I know is the V-Boost has been getting a workout on my Max. Gotta love us GPTB members. We are the only ones that can appreciate em all.
Re: Don't waste your breath kpaul, use this as your final thought

These guys suffer from a serious mental disability called Extremely Short Memory Syndrome. This malady allows them to accuse others of the exact crimes their own politicians have frequently committed.

No political party that held Lyndon B Johnson and Mayor Daley in its ranks has room to complain about anyone else's corruption and incompetence.

Once a Democrat always a Democrat! Democrats may die but they still keep voting!
Re: GPTB dues

Excellent. I'm born again.

Let me make clear that I don't hate Harleys. My brother and a couple of friends own them. And I can bash those dummies for a myriad of other reasons. I ride with anyone who loves motorcycles. The only thing that irks me about SOME HD owners is when they exhibit elitism and look down on those who don't ride Harleys. As if you don't ride a "real motorcycle." Which we can all agree is a joke. And I hate when they won't wave back on the road. So I will only respond in kind.

That's my disclaimer.

I solemly swear not to respond to kPaul's political baiting any further. I do reserve the right to engage him in issues relating to motorcycling.

Cross my heart and hope to die.
Re: Posished Frame

He's had it for 3 or 4 days now. That's plenty of time to break it in.

Maybe it's just too cold in **** for the poor dear.
Re: Don't waste your breath kpaul, use this as your final thought

I wish I had said that.

Bravo.

By the way, were the two Presidents who escalated the Vietnam war with no real strategy to win? And what political party did they belong to?

Sh*t, I did it already. Sorry, Buzz. I'll do better next time.
Re: GPTB dues

Trust me, sportbike guys can be just as elitist with their price/performance crap.

You can't discuss motorcycling with KPaul because he doesn't know anything about motorcycling.
SDSU

The SDSU jab is directed at me. I majored in PoliSci there.

I may be in New York in June. I have a business meeting in CT so I usually take an extra day to goof off in the city.

PBR at Hogs and Heifers?
Brrrrr

It was in the 70s here yesterday so I had my electric vest and gloves on. I picked up my son shortly after I rode the new machine home so I couldn't ride all weekend. We were doing Easter stuff together.

I might sneak out before I pick him up from school today. I've got a whopping 100 miles on it all below 7000 rpm. OK well sometimes it accidentally goes beyond that.

I think the two Italians in my garage are conspiring to do something evil to the Harley.
I thought you majored in RDU

"I majored in PoliSci there" Now why doesn't that surprise me. I thought you said you majored in "Recreational Drug Use" I admire that you admitted to that, Bush never did. I am glad you were able to put that behind you and become a successful member of society.
Re: GPTB dues

Oh, I agree totally. Especially the "I got 145 hp even though the I wet my pants at the thought of actually using it" guys.

Or worse, most of the guys who actually try to use it.

kPaul: Aw, come on. Give the dude a break. His ramming of political views down throats is totally annoying, but he does ride (I think). Doesn't that count for anything?
Re: GPTB dues

The "Middle Class Misery Index" of Bush's and

previous administrations and found a 13-point dip, from 112 to 99,

between 2000 and 2003. A higher score means families are better off.

The report listed a drop of five points during President Reagan's two

terms, a decline of 12 points during the presidency of Bush's father,

George H.W. Bush, and a 23-point improvement under Clinton.

Re: SDSU

Hey, that's real nice. Especially for a Harley guy. Must the Italian bikes you own, too. (You west coast guys drink PBR!?) Let me know if and when you're coming in.

I'm going to Florida sometime in June to, get this, ride from Ft. Lauderdale to the Keys with my brother and some friends. Better yet, I, quite possibly, will be mounted on a V-Rod (rental), and, with any luck, an attractive young lady (not a rental).

I don't live or work in Manhattan anymore, but it's not a long trip.

Re: GPTB dues

During almighty Clinton's reign, we also had an economy that was, in large part, being driven by a phantom internet/tech boom. A fact which everyone seems to ignore. If you remember, the bubble started to burst around the end of Clinton's last term. And it had nothing to do with what he did or didn't do. It was in many respects, a false economy that was doomed to fail.

The current unemployment rate is the same as the average under Clinton. The polls are a matter of mass psychology. We were spoiled into thinking that we could always have 3-4% unemployment and anyone could be an internet millionaire. Of course some people are worse off now--we don't have venture capitalists throwing millions of seed money at any geek with a hair-brained idea. And please remember that B.J. Clinton was essentially a fiscal conservative, not a traditional Democrat. The best thing he did is to not mess with much of anything. He was just along for the ride like the rest of us. And he still had to be dragged kicking and screaming to balance the budget.

Then Al "Redwood" Gore LOST an election (I don't want to hear he won the popular vote--read the Constitution and especially the part on the Electoral College for the answer to that). We were attacked on Sept. 11, which would have most likely happened if Al "Mohagany" Gore had been elected, too (and was being planned all through the Clinton years). And we know what that did to the economy.

Can things be better? Yes. Are they getting better? They seem to be. Are we still much, much better off than when Jimmy "You're gonna get such a pinch!" Carter, the "new face" of the Democratic party and the worst President in recent memory, held office? Yes, I think so.

Stop crying wolf with your poll numbers and give me a rational alternative argument.

On second thought, don't. Let's talk bikes.

Sorry, Buzz, last one. I promise.

See?

You got him started. We're going to be inundated with his stupid propaganda links for weeks now.

He usually picks one or two people to dog. Looks like you're it.
The real misery index...

.. is tied to the number of moronic political links that Kook can churn out/day.

Is that a sort of cost/performance ratio?

Amazing how almost identical economic numbers result in completely different depictions from the press. Clinton's numbers a few years ago were about the same as now. Yet then it was called a vibrant economy. The same numbers today are called the worst since the great depression. Liberal lies and the liars who tell them.

Bad economy? These fools should get Carter back. See how they like it.

Whoops they might. Kerry is proposing to use Carter's economic policy. That should stand your hair on end.
Re: See?

Yeah, I know. I'll take the heat off of you guys for now. He can see my above post. That'll be the last word. He's probably memorizing the entire text of moveon.org as we speak.

Sorry, guys. It just drives me nuts when the sheep oversimplify everything. He thinks he knows what misery is? My parents grew up in the depression. These kooks wouldn't last a minute during that time.
I sold a 2001 ZX-12R on ebay after trying unsuccessfully to sell it for four months with a local dealer. I described it accurately and got the price I wanted from it. I made it a point to work with the buyers credit cooperative, introduced them to mine, kept up communication with both parties and all went very well. I also made certain to have the money transferred before I released the title and agreed to him coming to pick up the bike. He lived about 150 miles from me so that part was easy.

Read carefully, don't leap into things without care and ebay is OK.
