"Speaking of hate mail, you people really shouldn't've called my former employer a "fat fascist tub of lard,"

Yeah, the lynch mob was out in full force, weren't they? Personally, from my limited contact with M.B. I thought he was a decent chap.

"Can't we all just get along". --Rodney King.
Re: Bitterness Ebbing

hmmmm 954 vs R1 vs GSX-R1000 ...

Did you decide not to torture Kawi again this year ? (obviously for the better)

998 not available ?

Bummer Kawi chose to take the ZX9 in another direction. Have the rumors of them trying for a competitive racer-rep open classer pretty much dried up ?
Re: Bitterness Ebbing

As an older (56) motorcyclist, former moto-xer,1969-1974(yeah I was in the crowd that got whipped by the Euros at Pepperell Mass.in 1969) , road racer 1997-2001(CCS FL) and a person recently... ahhh.... "released' from my long time job, I feel for Burns and what he's all about at this point in life. As as I have found, all major changes in my life have led to better things. So onward and upward Burns, keep up the good work. Your joining MO is what finally pushed me over the edge to contribute and catch up with all the M/C news online.

PS Hate to admit it but I read any/all print material as well as internet m/c however, I read internet (MO)first.

Re: John Burns: Bitterness Ebbing

Just read Glydon's latest column (To ride. Or not??) Insightful, interesting, amusing. Hire the guy!
Re: John Burns: Bitterness Ebbing

John Burns, you are a self-centred, egotistical, biased, corporate squid lackey with no loyalty who couldnt write a clear and interesting sentence if the fate of the world rested on your performance.

There you go JB, feel even better? I dont want to worry.

As I've said before, nice to have you aboard. I look forward to more prose from yourgoodself.

Cheers.

John....You Suck! The only moto-journalist,and I use that term very loosely, that sucks as much as you is Timbo Carrithers.... no wait, I like him. Clemente Salvidore sucks... no wait he sometimes has an interesting thought, he doesn't suck. Maybe I'm thinking of Pete Egan,no wait..he really doesn't suck at all. I guess there aren't any moto-journalist that draws as much of a vacuum as you. Maybe MO can get Timbo to replace you..after all you suck.

P.S. Did I mention you really, really suck and I HATE YOU!!!! How's that . Feel bitter... I mean better.
Re: John Burns: Bitterness Ebbing

John,

I enjoyed your writing at Motorcyclist, and now at Motorcycle Online; yes, I paid the 12 bucks to subscribe. I think that your writing basically communicates how we all pretty much feel about riding motorcycles. My personal feeling are: scared to death of close encounters of a Buick kind, yet enjoy the hell out of riding my Daytona. I think motorcycling represents to me my own little fountain of youth; well, at least my wife agrees that I act like a 12 year old...Welcome aboard and keep up the columns.
Re: John Burns: Bitterness Ebbing

Burns--Your "prose" as you refer to it, would be much more relevant if you would quit with the previous employer venom. Who wants to read that self serving stuff? Bitterness and grudges are for small minds; how about getting a grip and moving gracefully forward with the job(s) you now have? Just get over it. ENOUGH.

The other comment I would like to make is your penchant for insertions of wisecracks into employee's comments and pieces. As a reader, I find that very obnoxious, and you may be absolutely certain that your emploee's whom were the recipients of your "smart ass" comments feel exactly the same way. Regardless of what you may or may not think, no human likes to be made fun of-- ever. You are 40 something; the kids you are working with are 20 something I believe; you seem to be trying to be the "cool newcomer know it all." It is very nausiating in my view. It brings to mind the 40 something man who gets divorced and heads directly for the Corvette and gold jewelry stores.

One person's view.

Whoa, chill out there homeslice!

This place is all about ride'in, good times and just kick'in back.
Re: John Burns: Bitterness Ebbing

While everyone's entitled to their opinions, I couldn't agree less with yours.

See it for what it is, which is a bit of humour. We all love hearing a bit of gossip. All the more if it's embellished a bit.

Lighten up.
Re: John Burns: Bitterness Ebbing

I'm glad see your writing for MO now. When you were at MC your column was the best part of the mag. Now that your gone I doubt that I'll be buying it anymore, it cost to much when bought at a store or it gets mangled by our friendly mail carriers when you subscribe, it's a pain in the ass to store back issues and I hate thinking about how many tree's are cut down each month so we can read about bikes while sitting on the john. I've always enjoyed your "prose" even when you are crying and complaining like a little *****. I think that your input will make my favorite web site even better. Thanks for the tip about Citybike. Signed on to it to day for the 1st time and thought that it was a good read, thanks. I'm looking forward to your next column and I can't wait for the new shootout.
Re: John Burns: Bitterness Ebbing

Hey, Burns, glad to see you landed somewhere. Where's that dang Carrithers? He probably has nothing to do, maybe you could revive the dueling insult mode--it used to give me a chuckle. Anyway, hang in there, and please feel free to insult whomever you like. Clearly the answer to "Can't we all just get along?" is "No ****in' way"...
Re: John Burns: Bitterness Ebbing

Bryan: Perhaps you'd be correct in your comments if J. Purient (sic?) were writing for National Review, Gentlemen's Quarterly, or National Geographic. Now, I am not a worth a Babboon's Asscrack at writing myself, but I AM a conniseur (I like to read). And one of the basic tenants of good prose is to direct your writing to the intended audience. And for this crowd, in this sport, Irreverence, Smart Assology, and a certain amount of venting one's emotions (be they true or merely an exaggeration to show emphasis, as I think they are here), are perfectly appropriate. To be an effective reporter in a small town newspaper, all one must be is factual and a mediocre speller. But to be this and both Entertaining and Recognizable (many MO readers saw John immediately in the V-Rod piece), and to gather a following (Burns clearly has), one must go beyond the basics and develop a real personality that comes through the written word (and actually be able to use a Theasaurus). Damned if I'm not envious.

As for "not liking being made fun of," the tolerance for that comes with emotional maturity - heck, if done good-naturedly, it is a form of flattery. Being ignored is worse than being hated, someone at least has to care about you to hate you. Keep up the Good Work, Burnsie, and if it don't work out, there's always the Puxatawnie Gazzette. Have you picked out a color for your new "Vette yet? Mine's gold.

He wouldn't be JB if he didn't write that way.

Shadddupppp!!!
Re: John Burns: Bitterness Ebbing

Claire is hot.

Glydon is good.

Bryan (the post above) is a little slow.

Just my opinion

Oh, there is absolutely nothing in a title.
Re: John Burns: Bitterness Ebbing

Reality Check.... Excellent response to "Politically Correct Bryan". And don't be so hard on yourself, a babboon ass is quite colorful, as was your insight.

I haven't got a vette yet,but I've got my eye on a really cool gold vette necklace!
Re: John Burns: Bitterness Ebbing

Johnny Baby.....

By now we realize your fragile psyche' has been damaged and you're all vulnerable and everything but....get over it dude!! Re-direct that negative energy toward providing your loyal MO subscribers with some of that great talent of yours. I'm personally looking forward to your contributions.

Go get 'em!!
