Kawasaki dropped out after a number of close calls (locals boobie trapping the course, federales, etc.) that had people re-thinking Baja racing in the first place. Then Danny Hamel was killed when an off duty police officer went the wrong way on the course and hit him head on. Danny died of internal injuries and Kawasaki hasn't been back.
