K100s are great bikes, though the earlier RT (85-88 ) years might have some heat problems in the summer. Taking off the lowers helps a lot. I've heard of those K100s being pulled apart and miking out near stock at 100K miles. 1980s examples with 50-70K miles should run around $3K. $4K for one with 30K miles is probably a good deal provided the bike is in otherwise excellent shape.
