Check out the increase in Heatlh insurance. Way to screw the rest of us Buz

I think you're there.....either the Duc or thre Buell will be great bike.My advice at this point is to buy the one she likes the feel and looks of (in that order). Dont worry about the cost or the naysaying of folk who just dont understand why anyone would buy anything other than a japanese bike. Buy and enjoy yourselves!!!!!!!!

I had a 95 Buell, and it had tons of problems. However, I have a friend who has nearly 10K miles on an XB9R, and the only problem was a failed rear wheel bearing, which was fixed under warranty even though the bike was way out of warranty. The Buell is far lighter and easy to handle than the other bikes mentioned here (Triumph T-Bird, V-Rod, etc.). I had a T-Bird Sport, and also have a 5’4" tall wife who rides, and it wasn’t a very comfortable bike for her. The low Buell is almost ideal. Consider how and how much she is going to ride it. The engine is pretty over-stressed for the design, and some are worn out by 22-25K miles, but a lot of people never get there.

No it's not....

It's not your fault. Kook has been doing this for years. You shoulda been here when he was calling everyone who owned any bike but a race replica a fool. BMW owners, Harley owners, Goldwing owners, Moto Guzzi owners.... all fools to him.

I call it Kook's Universe of Circular Logic. He calls everyone dummies and then complains about being attacked back.

Funny how when Bush has the same economic numbers as Clinton it's the worst economy since Hoover. When it's Clinton with the same numbers it's a vibrant economy. Kerry is proposing some of Jimmy Carter's economic policies. That should be enough to mafe everyone head for the hills.

Hondas

I rode Hondas for years and from my experience they are no better than any other bike. My Harley is put together much better than any Honda I ever owned. I had a S90, CL350, two CB750's, and a CB900. Each bike was a joy while I had them but they had their share of maintenance issues and I dealt with them as they happened and I just figured that bike owership came with these problems.

there are TONS of bike that are lower to the ground and as easy to ride or EASIER than the buell.

but if her heart is set on a buell, then get one. especially if there is a good dealer in your area. i personally think the dealer is more important than the make.

i believe it is possible to buy a buell and have minimal problems with it. but i also think it is highly unlikely that it will be as trouble-free as, say, a honda or a suzuki.

ya pays yer money and ya takes your choice. the buell is loaded with character but you may have to belly up to the parts counter more often than you'd like.

personally, i favor reliability over "character." if i were you i'd get an suzuki sv650, get a lowered corbin seat, a nice exhaust system, and go riding. but that's just me. i prefer roostin' over wrenchin'.

I use all my bikes for daily transportation and what's most important is how you take care of it. The days of bad assembly and incomplete engineering are gone (I hope?). But when I bought my sport bike I was concerned about having to buy tires every 4000 miles. However, I have nearly 10k miles on the original tires and they look to have a good several thousand more. Obviously, I'm very gentle engaging and disengaging the engine to the rear wheel. Well, I used to have to rely on my '70 Triumph Tiger and still do on occasion. Well cared for it's a very reliable bike.
