Excellent review. Using my KPaul logic, I am sure longride is much faster in this jacket than his usual HD gear. He even looks good on that rented Ninja. His beloved Harley must of been in the shop that day. :)

Oh Longride, Longride, wherefore art thou Longride?

It did seem as though our friend Longride had gone missing as of late -- I had a few days where I did not check in so I thought perhaps I had missed some news, but apparently we are all in the dark regarding his whereabouts.

Oh yeah, sounds like a nice jacket, but I think it would have been a better service to us loyal MOrons if he had crash tested it for us! Are we just supposed to take his word about the sufficiency of the protective pads?

On a final note, he looks nothing at all like what I had pictured -- no grey ponytail, no arm chaps (guess they wouldn't go with the Kawasaki jacket anyway). Are we sure he didn't hire a model to pose for the photos?

Regards

Bob

ps Longride, let us know where you are.

Ditto on that last point - however, I didn't picture a grey ponytail or arm chaps, either.

Also, looking at the background reminds me why I left Chicago. Yuck.

Yes, I agree with that point- there is a lot to do there, I just never wanted to go out between November and March to do any of it. Chicago is a great place to live in all the other months- probably one of the best in the world.

What I miss:

-The People ('cause they rock)

-things you can do both in the city and the burbs

What I don't miss:

-relying competely on a car for four months of the year

-warming up my car for 10 mins. before driving it after scraping the ice off of it

-yuppies driving at 20mph on the highway on an inch of snow in 4WD SUVs

-the dressing ritual before going outside

-shoveling snow

-the two month bruise on my ass from slipping and falling on ice (I'm kind of a klutz)

Chicago BLOWS! Suburbs or not. It has worse traffic than DC even. And having lived in VA all sorts of delightfully curvy/twisty roads were within EASY grasp. Here there is jack squat! And the weather is for the birds! hmm, actually even the birds aren't stupid enough to hang around.

Re: He's on a trip

Well maybe I'll run into him on the road then if he went to the Black Hills. Even though I'm on the eastern side of the state and the Hills are on the western side:D

Hey! I rode my shovelhead a whole two years (14K) without doing the top end!

Course it dropped a valve the next spring, but.....

I got almost 60k out of my box-stock 74" with only the front cyl exhaust valve burning, the bottom end was gettin' a little sloppy but there's alot of that going around (eh'm)... My 80" with S/S cases, Andrews cam, Branch heads, Manly valves etc. etc. puke'd on a pretty regular basis. Who'd a thought a Shovel couldn't handle 11.5 to 1 on unleaded? I guess the moral is leave 'em alone and they run forever.

Have you guys forgotten we're supposed to be poking fun at longride here?

Anyway, I was planning this high-falutin' business trip to New York. I got the girlriend a ticket and used my Hilton points for a room at the Waldorf. Then she decides we don't have a future together so I cancel the hotel and come up with plan B.

I found a place in Jersey that rents H-Ds and with any luck I will be cruising about the New England states next weekend. If I hit New Hampshire and Maine that will leave only New Mexico as a state I have never visited (including but not limited to: state of intoxication, state pen, etc.)

I stayed in Montreal for a few days on my honeymoon. It's a wonderful city.

Hotel is cancelled! Bike is reserved. I'm getting a Geezer Glide in Rahway, NJ. I'll have it for four days. Tell the chowderheads to watch out. I'm coming!

Do you have to be a member of HOG to rent a Harley?. It'd be fun to rent a 'glide and cruise around. I got the closing date for my re-fi, then 3 days to process a check so with any luck I'll be Beemin' along around the first week in June, I can hardley wait.

You only have to be a HOG member for Fly and Ride rentals which are reasonably priced at $100 a day including insurance.

H-D has another program call H-D authorized rentals that anyone can use. The prices vary but expect about 120-135 per day. Check H-Ds website and click on products then try a bike.

I'll pick mine up Friday night and return it Tuesday evening. That should be enough to to hassle shopkeepers and terrorize New England girls.

Good luck with the Beemer!!!!

I'm here!

Hey MO staff! I sent you dingbats a note that I wouldn't be around for a bit. Took a nice "long ride" out to the Black Hills and enjoyed seeing the sights there. Made about 3500 miles in a week and a half along with about 500 pictures. Yes, I took the Glide for those that wondered. Yes, it ran perfectly, except for all the oil it leaked and all the parts that fell off. As for the rest of you MOrons, I haven't given up giving you all shyt. Just been RIDING like you all are supposed to be doing. Hope everyone liked the article. I dyed my hair and cut the ponytail just for the picture. Gotta grow it back so KPaul will wave when he sees me. I need sleep!
