Heh heh. Welcome to Florida.

The most irritating thing to me about these draconian fines for speeding is that in all the stories I see about someone being caught doing 150mph on an empty road no one is ever injured. Whenever I see some donut muncher sitting in his car staring at his laser gun I think, "Cripes, how many rapes, middle school drug sales and child beatings occurred while this lazy slob rakes in revenue?"

We would be better served if they spent their time on people who run red lights. Or just drove around where they can be seen. I see the UHP citing speeders a lot....as I pass the parked patrol car at 85mph. LOL!

Ken, these aren't the kind of concessions we have to make to live in a larger society are they? If they are, I'm extremely disappointed! :)
I love that "concessions" argument. It's always made by people who want to take your freedom away but who have no intention of giving any of theirs away.

The more laws and penalties that are passed to MORE destabilized society is.

When it comes to these lawmaker types Jefferson's comment on the blood of tyrants becomes more and more apropos. They simply will not stop until everyone of us is in a shock collar or worse.

Anyone who thinks this thread is moving off the subject of motorcycles has limited intellect. Our sport is under assault as never before. all at the hands of those who would "save" us.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

You make some good points there Zawa. In fact, the TSA is testing a bracelet right now that all airline passengers may be required to wear. It allows them to "Taze" anyone remotely from a control station or by using a laser pointer.

I'll stick by my comment that we have to make concessions to live in a larger society. Unless you're on a remote island living in isolation, you already have. You're using the highways and agreeing (in theory anyway) to drive on the right side of the road. Maybe your kid is in school and you bring him there on time.

Having said that, I have to agree, even as a "Liberal Democrat," that we've gone further than we should in invading personal liberties needlessly. I'm ok with laws preventing people from pouring toxic waste in my drinking water supply, but I'm not ok with anyone telling me I can't pour or inhale toxins down my throat if I wish.

The great thing about America was that we traditionally had a set of checks and balances that kept things under control; it was unlike anything else before or since. Now I think that system has been greatly dilluted by an Executive Branch that has far too much power. Locally, as the urban areas grow more crowded and resources and space shrink, dumbasses like Lopez get the support they need for their excessive laws.
My point is that we have gone about 40 years beyond the point of more "concessions". And I stand by my assertion that, today, every demand for us to give up more freedom is simply a scam to enslave. These people will not stop until we are back in chains. Next up: Parents' debts passed on to their children. The banks, credit card companies and medical associations are already proposing such.

Yeah!

And this will continue to happen until everyone stops voting for the two main parties. Anyone that thinks any of this will change while you still vote Democrat or Republican is delusional.

I've had this same argument with gun owners. They will beat the drum of "A Democrat will take away your guns!" But, it is apparent that gun rights have been diminished during Democrat administrations and Republican administrations.

So, when people tell me I throw away my vote for voting for Libertarian I find it ignorant and insulting when the vast majority continue to vote for the same people that take and steal from you.

So, good luck to all of you who think Obama is a Muslim or that he will raise taxes. And good luck to those that think Palin is stupid or that McCain is crazy and old. Bottom line is if you hope for different results from your government you are wasting your vote when you vote for either main party.
So vote Zod/Non and vote for REAL change. No taxes!
