I'd say it did pretty well here, you wouldn't have to make excuses for owning one.

Just goes to show why the 599 Hornet is a top seller in the UK and Europe, Honda really did a good job on it, That and the 919 are really neat bikes.

I thought it was a pretty good artical myself, well balanced and informative with good pictures and videos, listening to the Speed 4 screaming on the dyno was worth the subscribtion cost alone.

Maybe some helmet cam. footage would be cool, but over all I thought it was a good write-up. What do you think was lacking?

Didn't you read the piece about Aprilia going tits-up? you could get one and have an instant collector, or you could hi-thee to the Triumph dealer and find out just how good they are these days.

'Course I'm a little biased, but I'd suggest the later. That 599 sounds like a damn good deal too..........

Re: When your Triumph breaks let me know. I have a lust for a yellow Daytona

I haven't had any problems thus far, I've put 15.3k since June and other than one valve adjustment that I paid for, it's been just normal maintainance IE, one set of plugs, oil and filters and a set of tires.

I bought the bike at I-90 motorsports. Cycle Barn and Cycle Mart in Olympia also sell Triumph. Obviously there aren't as many dealerships as Harley or the big four Asian's but between those three and the net I don't foresee any problems, and the bike has run like a swiss watch anyway.

It's the same as most things, you hear all this B.S. about reliability but if you talk to anyone who owns one or visit TriumphRat.net and see the posts there you'll see that owner satisfaction and reliability are at least on par with anything else and better than most. I think you'd be happy with any model you got, price and performance wise they're competitive, they have a 2yr unlimited warranty for peace of mind and it's nice to have a bike that not a UJM sportbike or dirivitive cruiser.

Show some class and go for it Kpaul, (we always new you could do it)

I test rode a 1000 V-Strom last summer and it was certainly a bike I'd be interested in, I'm not sure you could find a better all round bike. It sounds like the 650 version is every bit as good

Re: waaay down to 60 LOL

Try a polar-tec fleece pull-over, thats all I wear over a T shirt, plus my JR ballistic 4.0 jacket and pants combo. It was 39 and foggy this morning and I was nice and toasty, 'course if you've got an electric vest why not use it.

You have to realize refrences to cold when you live in So. Cal. don't go over too well in the mid west. Up here in Washington State we figure if it's not snowing it's OK to ride. I actually got caught twice riding home in the snow this year but it wasn't much fun.

Kind of a Rugged Manly Northwesterner Mud Check kinda' thing ya' know ..... ride anyway 'cause it'll probably turn to rain before long.........

Find a Triumph Trophy 1200, that's what I did.

518lbs give or take, 108hp and 78 lb/ft torque, full fairing and bags, trunk available, "near" sportbike handling and acceleration, reliable as a brick and durn handsome to look at, all for $11,900. MSRP. There's left over '02's and a few '03's to be found.

Mine has proven to be the best bike out of the few dozen that I've owned, If I had the money I'd buy another one to ride after this one wears out in 300K miles or so.

Re: State Farm...

I hear that, I pay more for my '00 Venture Kiddie-hauler than my Triumph, If you have all your insurance thru State Farm they're actually pretty competitive. I looked into Progressive and the one Rider magazine offers and S.F. was still at least as good, if not better, plus my agent's a hottie so it's always nice to see her.

That works both ways, if he's not riding, then he's probably on in his Yukon Denali sipping latte`s and talking on the phone.

I'd rather he was on his bike, then I can just shift into third and leave him behind!
