Dougie was (is) quite something! His accomplishments as a privateer are all the more remarkable in light of his lack of mechanical preparation. His GSXR's were woefully under prepared yet he so often set fast lap of the day at new-to-him tracks that he was often protested.

Riders at their home tracks had trouble believing that this kid could come onto their turf and outrun them. They were convinced his bikes had to be illegal. At one tear down, not only was his motor found to be stock, but the valves hadn't been adjusted in so long that they were rusty!

Those of us who had the opportunity to watch him develop his skills riding Dave Rash's (D&D Exhaust) Hondas have many fond memories of a remarkably talented rider who was equally talented at helping his fellow club racers.
