I agree with (I think it was) Dreadstar when he suggested that Ducati put lenses flush with the fairing on the 999 headlights. It would add a lot to the finish.

It's nice seeing new models emerging too. The Bimota looks sick.

I just saw the KTM commercial. Wow! Great commercial and cool bike.

KTM deserves a lot of credit. They are now the number #3 dirt bike seller, behind Honda and Yamaha, and are making some heads turn with the Duke.

Aprilia Pegaso Strada - The European press stated that this bike has a Yamaha 660 motor. As it is a 4-valver this would mean it is the new one and not the old 5-valver used by MZ. This was surprising as the Jap factories do not usually let other companies use their engines until they getting on in life.

Does it have the Yam engine or is it the BMW Rotax lump?

KTM Baby

Folks have been saying it for years... but it's getting not just the nutcases now... The competition for the Big 4 aint' gonna come from Korea. Same Hemisphere... Different continent.

Raise a glass mates! KTM's gonna save the world!

Great stuff! That KTM commercial was almost as good as Viagra (R)!

Being a committed capitalist, I am loving this trend. More competition is better for everybody.

While my right wrist aches just to look at some of the bikes, still....

I nearly swoon whenever I see a Ducati - Monster, Sports, Multi-Strata..whatever. But then I read something like LT Snyder in MCN (current issue) with those niggling little problems.

Hopefully the Euros are going to get a lot better real fast re development and QC activity.

Looks like the new Millenium is going to be pretty cool - at least until we get our mandatory black boxes and the total social control sneaks up on us on little cat feet....

Oh, and another thing - we will NEVER see that cool KTM commercial on US TV...NEVER. I can see the class action crowd (Big Supporters of Jean Francois Kerry) licking their chops...

KTM Video

It reminded me of The Simpsons episode 109, Tree House of Horror V, where they took the Bavarian kid named Uter and turned him into Uterbraten and served him to the school for lunch in the cafeteria.

"Skinner:Now that's your 3rd helping young man,

making you fat and soft and tender.Um you just

cut in line didn't you? Report to detention Uter.

Uter: For how long?

Skinner:Um seven minutes a pound should do it."

KTM commercial

I hate to be a wet blanket, but the KTM commercial was on the same level as if an automaker ran an ad featuring their products running red lights or speeding through school zones, or a firearms manufacturer having a spot depicting the joys of shooting power-line insulators.

What's with the the KTM video? Are they marketing directly to British soccer fans now?

After looking at the KTM and BMW offerings I think that we should consider the term "teutonic aesthetics" to be an oxymoron.

On the other hand Triumph makes being ugly attractive. It's Speed Triple city for me next year. I really really need one of those.

No problem. I can get the guy at "Rags to Riches" here in Salt Lake to custom me up a nice seat like I did for the "G". And his seats are much cheaper than those overrated Corbins.

Wait a second. What do I care about passenger accomadations on an S3? I've got other bikes for that.
