thank gawd for gibernau, ducati, and aprilia ...

rossi is a great rider but a dash of competition is just what the moto gp series needs to transform it from a snoozer into a slugfest. i can't wait. hopefully hayden and edwards can get up to speed and run with the big boys.

Rossi stole the pole position from Capirossi at the very end of the session by 0.3 of a second, and the top ten are all within a second.

It is going to be a scorcher of a race, the Americans and specially KRJR are not doing that great.

Re: Mugello MotoGP Previews: The Ducati is bloody quick:

This comment from the MotoGP site after final qualifying shows how quick the Ducs are.

"Capirossi was also outdone by his own team-mate Troy Bayliss, who today clocked the fastest ever top speed recorded by a MotoGP machine. Bayliss reached 331.1km/h on the Ducati Desmosedici to move into `pole position´ for the All Time Speed Record presented by Gericom, who have promised a high powered laptop to any rider who sets a new record by the end of each Grand Prix."

They just got to get it to corner faster to match Rossi.

Cheers

Merv.
