Get some "slop" in the adjuster, tighten 'til just it stops clatterin', then back-off 1/4-turn.

I have a 1990 Honda XR200R and I think it may need a valve adjustment. Anyone know where I can find the specs on it or what the specs are?
Try a shop manual. Why would you accept such a spec from an anonymous source on the internet?

Why adjust when you can remove?

Why not just get rid of the valves all together? Stick 'em down in the seat with some JB Weld, and grind some "ports" into the cylinder with a hand drill and No.10 flat bastard rasp.

Viola, soon you'll have a two stroke that don't need no stinking valve adjustments.

Give that a try and get back to us.
