I've wondered about that - with the advances in metallurgy in the last 20 or so years, and high-speed, high-tolerance CNC machine tools - I can see the day where we "junk" out a machine - not due to wear, but simply due to our being tired of it (Newer! Better! Faster!).
I sorta "missed" the 26k-mile valve check on my FZ6 5k-miles ago, and have been dreading performing it. But, most everyone I've talked to keeps telling me that when I check it, I'll likely have to do nothing to the machine but button it back up.
