Will cancel ALL motorcycle licenses next year and force everyone to go through learners permits and safety training. That's ALL licenses. Everybody.

Effin' fascists. Oh yes, and as is so popular these days allows the DMV bureaucrats to write their own laws. Excerpt below:

General Description:
This bill modifies the Motor Vehicles Code and the Uniform Driver License Act by amending provisions relating to motorcycle endorsements and class M licenses.
Highlighted Provisions:
This bill:
► repeals the class M license;
► expires all existing class M licenses on June 30, 2008;
► prohibits the Driver License Division from issuing a motorcycle endorsement to a person, with exceptions, who:
∙ does not hold an original or provisional class D license, a CDL, or an out-of-state equivalent;
∙ has not held a motorcycle learner permit for four months; and
∙ beginning on July 1, 2009 and if the person is under 21 years of age, has not completed a motorcycle rider education program;
► creates the motorcycle learner permit;
► provides that a motorcycle learner permit entitles the holder of the permit to operate a motorcycle subject to certain restrictions;
► grants the division rulemaking authority to implement rules for the issuance of a motorcycle learner permit and the proof requirements for demonstrating that an applicant has completed a motorcycle rider education program;
► requires an applicant to state whether the applicant has had a license suspended, cancelled, revoked, disqualified, or denied in the last ten, rather than six, years; and
► makes technical changes

Better move to a red state and vote Republican, they'll get all those excessive laws off your back
What the $hit is going on with this country?!?!
It's just proposed.

We'll see how far it gets during the legislative session next year. The crooks only meet for 6 weeks in Jan-Feb.

They can't even pass a helmet law. I doubt that this will even got out of committee.

How long do your crooks meet in Washington? All year round?
They are called Law Makers for a reason, if they dont make any laws, whats the point? Granted I'm all for unlaw makers but that will never happen. They keep passing laws till the people revolt. Isnt that how its always worked throughout time?
No matter how many people are revolting, you can't legally kill them just because you have a weak stomach..........
and we can't trust them to quit, they'll just say they never said they were going to quit.
There are many, many proposed laws every year that get shot down. Many of them are even more retarded than this proposal.

When I became interested in gun rights I started paying more attention to proposed laws. I saw many that were frightening and stupid. There were proposals to ban land ownership, crazy tax increases, proposals to allow the UN to create laws and arrest citizens, proposals to limit speed limits to 35mph, proposals to pay taxes per mile driven, proposal to increase minimum wage to something around $20 per hour.
True...

... but look at the insane law that Schwartzenegger just signed that allows male adult pedophiles to put on women's clothes and hang around inside the girls bathroom in any public park. That is beyond insane. It is distilled evil.

I expect anything now from the "party of perverts" and the "party of war on some drugs".
Wait, what was that?! You got a link to that Schwarzenegger thing? That sounds like a new level of crazy.
The stupidest one they came up with here is to tear up the streets in side city limits and plant grass, then lay metal grating over the top to cut down on storm water run-off. All it'd take is a trip over the Narrows or 1st. Ave. So. bridge in the rain to get that notion out of their heads.

I don't know if it qualifies in public, but in the schools , if a man is more comfortable being a woman he can use the ladies room.
Even if it is just schools....

That's just great. Now not only do you have to be careful not to shake hands with Sheryl Crow you gotta make your kids come home from school to use the bathroom.
*sigh*

I know quite a few crossdressers and trans people (both male-to-female and female-to-male. One of the women I ride with here in San Diego is trans, and I'm sure there are plenty I don't know! Anyone who feels so strongly that they are mentally a gender that doesn't match his or her body is not going to cause problems in a rest room. All they want to do is fit in as a person of their mental gender. You may not understand why they need to do it (no one really understands it) but as far as anyone can tell it is just another variation on human development. It is certainly not a perversion.
I don't think the concern is about trans-gender, lord knows I don't care. But there does seem to be an increase in child predators presence in today’s society. So, the concern would be (and I do not know the specifics of this law) that a child predator could dress in the attire of the other gender and use an inappropriate bathroom and linger making it easier to nab a child.

I understand, but to be honest I have never heard of such an incident. (And don't forget that I do criminal defense work, so I'm reasonably up on what would be reported.) The benefits of the trans-protection laws truly outweigh their risks.

Well I sympathize with your friends, however, the role of gov't is to protect it's citizens; not to insure that no one ever experiences a moment of discomfort.

Child safety trumps adult discomfort anytime.
Right, but perceived fear will not change especially when cable news is running new child nabbing stories every week. Child predators targeting bathrooms is hardly a stretch.

...though, I do believe they are all preoccupied pretending they are kids on MySpace, currently.

With faux pictures of Kawasakis?
Even if the law passes

The unilateral disqualification of a motorcycle endorsement without regard to current M class holders will result in law suits from the AMA and class-action suits from every CO licensed rider in the state. It's a nice try, but reality is the Federal District court will override the law on grounds that it will unjustly target law abiding citizens. Simply, they will re-write the law (waisting tax payer money and their time) and grand-father in all current M class licensees. Just a prediction, though.
