Tamada was disqualified after the race, giving 3rd to Nicky.
I'd say it's been an unbelievable rookie season in MotoGP, but that would shortchange his exceptional dedication and maturity. Damn, it's exciting to watch a future great in the making. Congrats, Nicky, you've earned it!!!
Yeah....but then again Bayliss and Checa had crashed out at the first turn...but nonetheless I was impressed by the way he held The Doctor at bay for some time. I think next season we will see great stuff from the wolf boy.
Tamada was disqualified for his passing move. The slow mo shown on SpeedTV looked to me like he was past and the other rider turned into him. I'm sure the race director was a bit tight because of the connection with Kato -- this was widely held to be his home track. Too bad for Tamada, I thought he rode a fantastic race. Fortunately he has a lot of good races left in his career. If they enforced rules like this in Formula1 they'd have to throw out half the field!!!
His first podium and currently 7th in points. He has more skill, guts, class, and professionalism than the supposed all time AMA great champion Mladin ever had, or ever will have. Nicky is the best rider to come along in quite a while. He's going to be something special.
Can someone esplain to me why John Hopkins gets a 1 race suspension and probation and a fine, for what appears to be clean agressive riding, while (whilst?) Makoto Tamada, just gets a DQ for the same agresive riding. I know he took down Checa, he has admited he went in to hot. What about all the other agressive riding, any of those guys getting fined for racing a motorcycle in a motorcycle race.
Congrats to Nicky, hope the next one he gets will be all him.
Not real sure about the skill. Not yet anyway. He certainly has more style that's for sure. He'll be ON next season. Seventh in points his first year on the GP tracks just blows me away. I knew he was gonna be great but Damn. The last two races have been fantastic for him.
Mladin will go down in the AMA history books. That's a given. But Nick will own the world.
I agree with your comments. Tamada was clearly past Gibernau under brakes up the inside leading into a bend, and Gibernau turned into him. Isn't this how passing is meant to take place? If you ask me the fault lies with Gibernau, but no-one should have been disqualified here.
Granted, Mat is not the most personable guy in the world, people bash him whenever he says something other than "The bike is great, my sponsors are great, the other riders are great, gee willikers I'm so happy to be in the perfect AMA world." He oes out there, blows the stickers off of everybody else than his tire explodes. He says that this is bad and Dunlop needs to do better. Then everybody says he's classless.
Let's see you act with more class under those circumstances.
A true champion acts with class no matter what the circumstances. A true whiner cries about next years' rules after just winning a championship this year. The AMA gives his ego a place to shine where it cannot anywhere else in the world. Mat would suck in WSB and GP, where the REAL riders end up. Nicky is in GP at 22. You figure it out.
"Granted, Mat is not the most personable guy in the world"
That could be the biggest understatement since "I think those Indians may be unfriendly General Custer".
