A solder pot is a handy thing to have. When you aren't fixing cables you can cast bullets. You don't need to have a "solder pot" (but it helps!).

Maybe you better get spares just in case. I always carry an extra clutch cable for my cable actuated bikes. Extra EX cables is probably a good idea. Please look for me.
They broke off at the ends.
Thanks,
John
You can push the bike while it's in neutral til it's going a few mph and then jump on in and pop it into first. Then you dismount at the next stop and do it again. Eventually you get home. Don't ask me how I know this, but traveling 20 miles across L.A. with a 650 Bonneville was no fun.I learned this lesson a couple weeks ago. It was really hot waiting in that parking lot for the local HD/Buell truck to come get my bike. When the guy showed up, this was the convo:
Greg: Hi I'm Greg. Broke yer clutch cable huh?
Me: Yep
Greg: Mah new bike's got one o' them hydrolic clutches.
Me: Good for you Greg. Good for you.
