About 10 years ago I looked into importing and getting Indian Enfields certified by the DOT, AQMD & BAR for sale here in Kalifornia.
Just the AQMD & BAR nonsense would have run in excess of 200 grand. There was also something in the AQMD rules about running the bike for 24 hours straight in an airtight shed on a dyno to measure hydrocarbon leakage (!?).
That ended it.
