You need a person with an M license to ride the bike away. Not necessarily the owner. Maybe I should post up on craigslist offering to ride squids' bikes back to their mom's garage, for a reasonable fee.

Yeah. Well, it still is simple harassment. And after everyone gets a license the accident rate won't change one bit. An M class endorsement only means that someone can ride a bike in a freaking parking lot. If you want to really protect the public make those codgers pass commercial driving requirements before they can drive motor homes. In fact make all codgers take driving tests each year over age 70. These people are the most dangerous next to teenaged boys.



Too many codgers vote. Don't dare mess with them. Oh no.



I wonder how many rapes, child molestations, drug deals on school grounds and mob extortions happened while the glorious Revenue Agents... er, I mean NYPD were out "protecting" the public?

So, here's my question. In most states you can't buy a car unless you have a drivers license, so how can so many people who don't have a motorcycle license buy motorcycles? It should be a requirement when you sign a title over that the owner has to prove his or her license. If that many people are dying on bikes due to their irresposibility then I think the NYPD is doing the right thing.

They really put a dent in crime in NYC, didn't they? I hope no officers got hurt in this crackdown. On another note, they do have a helmet law there, right? We all know that people with helmets never die, and therefore the death rate should be zero. Everybody here knows that if you just wear a helmet, nothing bad can ever happen to you. Think the AMA was right all along? You betcha!

I don't think this is true. I know it is not the case in VA. You DO have to produce some sort of identification, but a license is not necessary for registration and ownership.

Aside from a few predictable remarks about "Why aren't they stopping REAL CRIME (whatever that is), the comments have been surprisingly reasonable. So far, anyhow..

Yep. They sure got their priorities right in NYC. Everyone knows who crime free NYC is. I'm sure it's the right thing to do to have a few officers as possible fighting organized crime.

Agreed. 16 M endorsements would still equal 16 deaths (probably). People in cars don't not turn left in front of a bike because the guy is licensed and insured.

My question is thusly, when are the coppers going to begin pulling over every car on the street to make sure the driver is licensed and insured, the vehicle is registered, and necessary indicators work properly, and impound the car if one of the above is not met? What day does this start?
