My K1600GTL is celebrating its one year birthday.

The Blue Angel recently rolled over 8000 miles (not bad considering I own and ride other bikes).

It has been everything advertised and I still smile when I twist the throttle (the awesome-sounding Remus cans help!) Perhaps Duke needs to schedule a dyno run with me just to get sound files.

It has not been without its troubles as it is a BMW.

I had the water pump replaced at 5500 miles.

The infamous front end squeak made it's appearance at about 6800 miles and has now disappeared. BMW has no explanation for the noise but at least it's quiet now.

The iPod connection sometimes displays "NO USB" and then returns on its own to show the iPod connected.

Otherwise, it is a marvelous bike to ride.

85 degrees today! I think I might have to ride to lunch!

Like to hear of real world ownership data. You cannot get this from even the best moto-journalist publication without a certain amount of dis-information.

I can't believe it's already been a year!

Now you should start a project to turn it into a stripped-down, badass Cafe Racer! Peel off all the fairings, dump all the luxo-barge accessories, pin a bikini fairing, clip-ons, an aluminum tank, and tailpiece on it and haul some serious ass.
