Good luck w/ the ABATE crowd.
Harleys exempt from helmet laws only if they have loud pipes and run Mobil 1 full synthetic?

That kind of troll?
Let me get this straight.

Philly just had highest murder rate since 1997. 384 as of December 12.

And helmet laws is where he's throwing in his political hat?

What an @ssclown. How about putting the attention somewhere else.

And I live in PA and I wear a helmet on every ride. I see A LOT more people wearing helmets in PA than in the past two states I've lived in (AZ or FL).

WA state instituted the teen law about not having teen passengers and driving after dark etc. The experts say it did reduce teen accidents. I think talking on cell phones while driving should be banned for everyone. I caused an accident by doing it. As some have suggested we should just turn the phone off. I now do that....... I think women would just hate that though.. Most of the folks I see on cell phones driving are women. Not to get into it again but if the deaths have doubled it might be partially explained by more riders but I doubt the number of riders also doubled. I could be wrong. I doubt it gets reinstated the demographics right now favor ABATE.
HD will also be exempted for tiered licensing.
That's the spirit.. :)
Gee imagine that, a democrat wants to protect us from ourselves.

It's this simple; So long as I have the financial means not to become a burden to the state and my relatives are comfortable with wiping my a$$ for the rest of my drooling days then I should be able to do and wear what I want, provided my actions don't endanger others (which is why the only mandatory protection should be eyewear).

Disclaimer: Yes I wear safety gear, including a helmet. No I'm NOT a republican (libertarian actually).
Solving the murder problem takes effort and thought. Putting helmets on motorcyclists takes nothing. Education is the only way to significantly reduce deaths. Of course, that takes thought and effort also.
Good post

I think you correctly nailed it.. If folks want the freedom they should pay for it. i.e. if you can't do the time don't do the crime analogy.. I think everyone should wear a full face.. but... if folks were willing to pay more for the priviledge of not wearing any helmet I would be OK with it.
Harley will never let it happen. They have GWB-like power to control any event anywhere around the world. They are against any form of licensing, education, helmets, and anything else anyone can think of that might get passed, but Almighty Harley will block it. They have the power. It's futile to resist.
Yep I agree with on the education thing finally.. but it should be both for riders and drivers. Heck my daughter's school canned drivers ed. a few years ago..In my day it was a full quarter class complete with written tests, gory films, and actual driving. These days, most kids get a few lessons and study for the dumbed down test..
My work is done here :) You have learned well from the master :)
Oh no. They put very little thought and effort into everything.

It's funny; there are A LOT more guns outside of Philly (tons of hunters, farmers, hobbyists and people like that).

Yet, 90% of the murder goes on in Philly.

And we still get people blaming guns. As if the gun is the key factor to braking the law.

Sure, robbery, assault, murder, drug dealing, carjackings are al against the law, but [email protected] if it ain't the gun that made 'em do it.

And since H-Ds are made in PA, they have like double power there.
Actually, everyone in PA is paid in "Harley Bucks". They can only be used at the local Harley Mart.
So with the existing logic, (not yours) the guns should be charged with the crime and prosecuted and not the individual pulling the trigger.
No, the company that makes the gun. Then the gov't can sue for big $$$ (like tobacco) and pi$$ teh money away on crap unrelated to the original suit.
Something like that.

I know my example is over simplifying things. But just because a gun makes it easier to kill someone, doesn't mean we should over look the fact that people are so willing to take a life because someone looked at them funny.

At some point you need to blame the actions and not what was used to commit those actions.
