That's tough Ken, You just have to do the best you can and try to be there for him, and her too for that matter.

I just found out my dad's cancer is back. He went through 18 months of chemo, radiation and stem cell replacements and was in remission for only 9 months. They have him on revlatmid and morphine, I don't know if he has the strength to fight it again. It's totally f*cked.

Clinical trials are a mixed bag, but considering her insurance problem and the aggressive form of cancer she has they may be a "good" option for her.

My som's Mom has terminal cancer, and I'm pretty unimpressed with their results so far. Seems like they just throw chemos and radiation at it. Nobody even talks about the non-standard stuff. Her former employer just dropped her (she'd been on LOA for almost a year) and she has to go to Cobra. I don't blame her employer, actually they were really nice. But now the Cobra coverage is denying everything. It's probably a moot point, in the last few months it's gone from her breasts to her lungs to her brain, and last week, her liver. It just kills me to think my little guy (he's 9) will grow up with no Mom. I'll be there, but shoot, I don't want this to happen. He's as nice and sweet a kid as you'd ever meet. Smart too, just made Honor Roll in his Exceptional Ed classes. It's hard to figure out what God's up to, sometimes.

Sorry to hear that. That's all I could think about during my ordeal. How as my son going to be affected.

That really sucks Ken. After seeing hundreds of dead and dying people, I'd say I gave up trying to rationalize it. My belief is that life is a big lottery. Everyone has a number, and when your number is called, then that is that. No amount of safety gear, precautions, or avoidance can stop it. All you can do is live life each day, because we aren't assured the next one. Hang in there man.

The number of trials is staggering. Getting good advice about which trial she would qualify for (or even which one is really promising) can be very difficult.

It is obvious that the world needs this woman. Someone needs to be available to look upon the hijinx of Klazy Ken with a full distilled dose of disdain. That is a full time gig.

She gave up on my ass years ago...we've been divorced since 01. But, we're pretty good friends now, and we're able to put our crap aside and work together for the good of uur son. Life is so ironic; we get along better now than we ever did, even when we were married.
