Let's see: Laguna in the fall. Count me in. Seems natural to set up a Superbike only event for the AMA. On Friday they should run a SM race. That would make the weekend complete. Let 'em do it SCRAMP and AMA.

Bike week West

Great idea. ..Seems like prefect bookends for the AMA season. Daytonal- Laguna. Add motorcross, supermoto.. hell add flat track to it. Lots of people out here, on the blue coast, need some kind an event like bike week..

Re: Cool!

Hell I would love to come down from Seattle in the fall to one my favorite areas in the country (bar area). Great excuse to get some time away from the wife. I'll make sure I'll bring my broom stick case I run into some GPTBs.

Re: Bike week West

Good point, think Monterey would be up for a "real" four or five days of constant motorcycling? Sure is nice there in the summer. Love to see early fall. Might even pack up the old K100rs and make the ride if I can get it to line up with an off week.

Why Not Go Back to the Four-Day Format?

I agree that it would be very cool to have two AMA classes with MotoGP, and then also have a separate AMA weekend in September.

But in any case:

Who remembers when the Laguna events were four days long (Thurs-Sun)? For some reason (probably due to county permits, etc) they dropped the Thursday practice sessions a few years back. I bet if they put Thursday back on the schedule they could run all the AMA events alongside the world event, just like they used to. And hey - that was with six AMA classes (SBK, SSport, SStock, F/X, 250, ProThunder), plus WSBK practice, superpole, and TWO races! And it all fit in just fine.

Four days is better than three!

;-)
