Hi i'm new to the motorcycle world and i'm not sure that these are totally cool with everyone but I am looking to buy a radar and I was just wondering if anyone has one and can offer me some advice on which is the best one to buy and the best features they offer and things of that nature. Thank you so much everyone and anyone :)

Check local laws. Radar detectors are illegal in many areas. Also, make sure that the cops in your area aren't using laser instead of radar. Despite what the manufacturers will tell you laser detectors are next to worthless. The shift to laser is happening and it won't be too many years until radar is a thing of the past.
I would have to agree. Your best detector is simply paying attention. Motorcycles present such a small radar profile, the officer has to be really close to tag you, especially if there is anything larger around you. Large trucks and SUV's will make you virtually invisible, but not to the naked eye. If the officer gets a number and sees you passing everything, tag, your it! It won't matter where the number came from.
I also concur. If you know what you are doing and pay attention you can go reasonably fast yet never get a ticket for speeding. However, over at the Iron Butt riders forum, the detectors of choice are the Valentine 1 and the Escort 9500.
Worth the money

I have a cordless Beltronics that works great I put it in my chest pocket and place the helmet speaker in my helmet with Velcro.. Although laser is becoming more prevalent. Laser has it's limitations.. and radar is still used. See detector school post...Yes laser detection is tough and usually its becomes "ticket indicator" i.e. it's too late..However, I have had several times where my laser detector went off and it still gave me time to slow down. radarbusters.com has good info on detectors and laser jammers... Jammers are the best way to combat laser. I never go over 5-10 mph on the interstate since the WA state patrol has laser. On back roads I speed up to 15 mph and use my detector because radar is still used by local police and sheriff departments. My detector has paid off numerous times.

5-10 mph over the speed limit. WSP isn't as tolerant as CHP of speeders
