The Med was never as bad as Gonzo Station off Iran.

We had a heck of a time keeping the evaporator's up. The sea injection temps were crazy high.

Now the weather was a different story. I was just telling some of the guys here about one time in the Med, the wind was blowing so hard off of Africa that we had to back up to catch a COD!

(Sorry - the translation is Carrier On-board Delivery; it was a twin prop cargo plane (C-1A) that "took off at 90 knots, flew at 90 knots and landed at 90 knots." They carried people and all sorts of stuff, the most important being mail.)

Central was indeed cool!

We got to watch the Flight Deck cameras, too!

I spent a good amount of time in 4MMR, though.

I suppose you get the same looks I do when I try to tell "civilians" some of the crazy things we took for granted...

Like jet fuel in the tap water. Or Super-pasturized milk in little trapezoidal cartons. Or stirring your Joe with a plank of solidified coffee creamer.
