Re: Regis to ride Aprilia

I thought they were looking for an experienced rider. Laconi doesn't seem like he's GP1 material.

Re: Regis to ride Aprilia

Experienced? What do you call riding in GP since 1995? Who won the last SBK race of the season?
Re: Regis to ride Aprilia

My guess is that he will do some R&D for Aprilia so Haga will have a decent ride next year.
Re: Regis to ride Aprilia

I guess I meant a proven winner. SBK is not GP. Laconi has only 1 GP win and only 1 other podium finish.
Re: Regis to ride Aprilia

How come everyone thinks Haga is going to do so well in MotoGP when he got his rear end handed to him this year? and don't give me that "4-stroke has smoother power delivery" garbage, the GP 4-strokes gonna be an animal just like the 2strokes are. Haga is good with a mildly tuned WSB bike. He's gonna have his hands full with 200bhp
Re: Regis to ride Aprilia

I thought Haga was slated for a ride on the Mille for 2002...?
He is......

.......on the Mille in 2002. Maybe they're thinking of getting the bike ready for him in 2003. I don't fully agree with the earlier post that Haga got his ass kicked in GP this year. On Dunlops he'll definitely be a force.
Re: Regis to ride Aprilia

You Dimwit, ask anyone (Including Haga, Crafar, Laconi, Bostrom) Making a tire switch is hard. Had Haga completed a GP season on Dunlops, things would have been different. Laconi was a different racer on Dunlops, often close to the front. There were races when Crafar handed Doohan his ass on Dunlops. Haga is no different. He never slid the Yamaha on MIchelins like he did on the Dunlops. He almost won the title on the D's while he crashed like crazy and was not a challenger on the Michelins. Do your research before you run your trap. Look at the tire they gave Laconi in GP1. Yes, it's Dunlops, because they know he is a proven racer on Dunlops.
mothers milk

go ahead and blame his lousy racing on his tires. according to the speedvision guys, roadracingworld, motogp.com, and pretty much everyone else, it was the powerband he could not come to terms with. but you know better than them, right momma's boy?
Re: mothers milk

That milk is tight. Your moms milk taste good too. Anyway, Haga could not come to terms with michelins, not on the R7, not on the GP bike. You watch and see. You want to make a Gentlemen's bet...???
ok - you're on

but it's gonna take a couple of years. the bet should be settled by mid 2003. if i win, your screen name has to be changed to "Lincoln's_b*tch". kinda has a nice ring to it huh?

if i lose, i become Joe_Momma's_b*tch or a name of your choice.
Re: ok - you

Sounds good to me, except your name will be Joe_mommas_weekend_****
Re: He is......

What do you mean you don't fully agree? You don't have to agree with an OPINION, but it is a FACT and the numbers can't be disputed. He finished what....13th in the final point standing and was never a real threat the whole season? What do you call that? Being competitive or getting your ass kicked?
Re: Regis to ride Aprilia

Whew, for a minute there I thought they meant Regis Philbin, am I relieved...
Kathy Lee for...

Yeah, and Kathy Lee will be his mechanic, for obvious reasons. I don't think Regis will be finishing a race anytime soon.
Re: mothers milk

On hagas first race on a 500 with dunlops a few years back (cant remember when, around when the R7 came about) he placed 3rd, why, because dunlops are very good to slide with, any scmuck can tell this, ask simon crafer, dunlops are excellent, michelin dont give, they slide then they let go.

Simon crafer is the best example because he did it on hte same bike, first year dunlop, won a gp and challanged on others, second year, michelin, did get anywhere.
Re: He is......

OK, OK................point taken.
Re: Regis to ride Aprilia

Dunlops,Schmops!

It's true that riders like Haga or Crafar ride dramatically better on Dunlops - but a TRUE CHAMPION (like Rainey, f.i.) would be a championship contender even on South Korean tires... He prefered the Dunlops but was a winner on Michelins too...

And, - I bet - the world champion for MotoGP 2002 will be on Michelins, not on Dunlops!!!

Anyway, I hope that Laconi does a good job on the Aprilia - some podiums would be nice... (But if I were Aprilia I would try to get Katoh for 2003 - he is the only one good enough to beat Rossi... and he is a lot cheaper)
