Well as I understand it it's illegal for cities to put bans on DOT approved forms of transportation... why should it be ok for some little community?

I mean it's rather bias to just ban motorcycles? what if I had a lot of clients I needed to visit in that community but I had a motorcycle? that could seriously hurt my bisness if I had to spend a bunch of time walking to them..

kessler moved to a city because they ban bikes. What a crock but then again maybe she never leaves town. I see thi as another argument against gated community living. I am sure an uproar would insue if another type vehicle or group were banned but motorcycles are an easy target

Re: What have they got against motorcycles

Everyone knows what sort of people ride motorcycles, and that's not the sort of people you want near your gated community. Let in the motorcyclists and the next thing you know you'll have drug lords and homosexuals living next door.

I could understand a noise regulation, that would make some sense. One of the reasons I moved out of West Hollywood this past weekend were the jackholes with their LOUD PIPES (motorcycle, Ferrari, etc.) or 5kW car stereos that would roll past or even park in front of my building at 3 AM on a Tuesday. By comparison my SV is considerably less raucous.

I would be willing to bet that there are people with cars and trucks in Canyon Lake with an exhaust note more pronounced than most stock bikes. I would also bet that this law exists almost entirely on perception, that all bikes sound like a HD with an aftermarket exhaust and that bikers are hooligans just waiting for the chance to eat babies and corrupt daughters.

Yep noise reg seems the way to go.. Like you said, that way you get the loud car steros which I forgot about. My neighbors say my Ninja is so quite compared to HDs and my neighbors Vulcan with after market pipes.

Well, they can thank all the loud non OEM exhaust systems for this; why would any resident have a problem with a motorcycle they could not hear or was not pulling wheelies or racing down their street. I live in an area that has homes very close to each other and to my home. My bike is stock and quiet; they wave to me rather than shake their heads. Motorcyclist have to realize that acting like irresponsible children has it's consequences that none of us want.

the reason we can make our own rules about who can use the roads is because the roads and 2,500 acres of commons are all private property, owned jointly by the people who own individual lots in the development
