You should look at the new KLR 650. Great bike, inexpensive, and just fun to ride. I am 6'5", 34" inseam and ride a KLR 650 and a BMW 1150 RT. Did a two week 5,000 mile jaunt from Oklahoma to California and back this summer on the BMW and was very comfortable.
Have a Cee Bailey windshield and a custom Rick Meyer seat on the BMW and a Corbin seat on my KLR. Love both bikes.
