Well, with your long torso and stumpy-legs, I suggest something with a low seat-height, like a Girlster or Rebel 250............

I'm assuming of course that you're ready for it. I agree with other posters that you might want to get your riding legs back on a KLR or something first, but you can thrash around on whatever you want for awhile. You don't need us to tell you what a perfect beater bike should be...you can find one anywhere. You need a bike to aspire to, and when you're ready, this would be a nice one.

Off Subject- did anyone get to see any of the zappa plays zappa tour? Let me be the first to say that I am NOT a big Zappa fan. I do, however, appreciate the talent and musicianship that goes into every song. That aside, the tour came through ATL several weeks back and I noticed two things: 1- Dweezle was smiling the whole time (actually enjoying what he has accomplished with the band- I suppose.). 2- They were as "spot-on" as Frank could have wished for. Worth every cent.

But what I am getting at is that one of the claims and defense to install a tiered system is that dealers and friends point new/returning riders in a poor direction or they choose poorly themselves. So here's a guy looking to be pointed and the people screaming loudest for tiered licensing are making the worst suggestions.

You can't miss it. Besides the fact that it was filled w/ Zappa alumni it was, musically speaking, one of the best shows I've ever seen. The little girl singing backing vocals has amazing range (they also play with effects on some of her backing stuff-very funny, very cool). The whole thing was a site. Just go to zappaplayszappa.com.

My whole arguement in the tiered thing is that if we use this system, and along w/ training (once again manditory), students/riders should be given a chance to advance the tier based on skills obtained from training. It's a tough subject but change is good if it is for the benefit of future riders. Most guys that have once ridden and are re-entering should have some of the basic skills needed to get teir 1 but if they are so skilled as to advance in tier then great. But no one wants to believe it's that easy.

Spend savings on great riding gear, MSF class then a more advanced riding class later.

The Hyosung and GS500 might be a bit cramped for leg room for someone 6'4. I'm only 6', and my GT250 (naked) has just enough leg room for me to be comfortable. The GS500 has about the same legroom (at least that is what it felt like to me) but the rest of the bike is much smaller than the GT250.
There is a little less leg room on my GT250 naked than the naked SV. (Again, that's what it feels like to me)

You should look at the new KLR 650. Great bike, inexpensive, and just fun to ride. I am 6'5", 34" inseam and ride a KLR 650 and a BMW 1150 RT. Did a two week 5,000 mile jaunt from Oklahoma to California and back this summer on the BMW and was very comfortable.
Have a Cee Bailey windshield and a custom Rick Meyer seat on the BMW and a Corbin seat on my KLR. Love both bikes.
