You really are clueless, aren’t you? Or maybe you just slept through world history. Here it is in a nutshell: The really big atrocities of the last 1000 years were executed by governments – the bigger the government, the bigger the atrocity. To be sure, it was always a government with a certifiable bad guy at the top, but it was always a government. Sometimes it was even a democratically elected government.

Not a "shadow" government, either. Every one of the big, bad governments was right out there for all to see.

Don't like history? Pick up a newspaper and read about the goings-on in Sudan, Sri Lanka, China, or any country with a name that ends in "stan."

Am I paranoid? When it comes to big, powerful governments, you’re Goddamned right I am.

THese are alarming numbers. But, I would bet that including that data in a comparison with the number of cars and light trucks would be even more useful since we all share the same space at the same time. Also since there isn't a breakout of car vs bike and single vehicle bike only fatalities I would still tend to question some of the conclusions. Having said that, drinking and riding is just F'ing insane!! A certain rag recently reprinted an article on that theme. JB could probably enlighten us all on that experience.
