Sach's has been selling the 50 cc version of this in Europe for at least 5 years, maybe longer. The Lifan 125 bolts right into place. It's the lights, speedo, and turn signals that gave them a hard time getting DOT certified.

the bikes are epa certified , but need a boost

the stock 49cc engine got passed by epa by being heavily restricted. the 125cc madass that is due into the states had a tough time passing epa, but it did pass on the 2nd time through testing in late nov. they are due to arrive as 2010 models in late march. we put allot of 88cc kits on the madass 50, and we have a 160cc big bore waiting to go on the 125s once they get here. here is a dyno readout on the stock and the kitted madass that we recently ran. we love our new dyno!!!

moto-scoot bill, you might think because we've slagged-on the madass that we don't like it or something - on the contrary, I absolutely love the idea of the thing, and am really all for big-bore kits (within reason). I'm glad the 125 is finally able to make it through. No Golf Course will be safe from my wrath..........

Excellent use of useless facts and data. (Since the original post refers to the 125cc, we expect a 125cc dyno report.)

FWIW, I think the looks are pretty cool, and if it will keep up speed on secondary roads...

As a poor soul who raced an SL90 in the DRA, with a 110cc kit, Poweroll cam, 22mm Kehin with Webco manifold, Webco straight pipe and CD ignition, the bike was still a stone, and after all that work still put out about 9 hp, and weighed in at 250 lbs.

I guess we'll never see the end of that miserable little motor. It should have been put to death long ago. Now every bike builder in Christendom who needs a small four stroke now goes to the Honda 90 as its powerplant. Sad.

Why didn't they choose the SL/CL/CB 100 motor? Too hard to mount in flimsy frames I guess.

That's a very good question (to which I do NOT have the answer). Do you supose this MadAss 125cc will be worth considering?

Again, I say, send AirHawk out to test ride the wheels off (or Danger)! We need a ride report, stat!

That SL350 says "Let's Ride!" with its rubber covered footpegs, trials tires and 325 lb. wet weight. Wonder how many people have to wear a truss now because of the SL350 series?

My Cl handled so badly, 5 mph was about it on a rock filled trail, or you'd get bounced right off the bike. Those non-existant smooth fire roads in the Honda commercials would have been perfect, but I could never find one!

Hey Tom....

Yeah, some are heavy. I might mention that I rode an Ariel Square 4 in an observed trials back in 1950. I didn't win.
Didja check out the Harley Hummer blurb in the MX forum? I know you rode one on Catalina in the GP, interesting stuff I found on that bike, a DKW copy.

A square four in observed trials? Why not a full dress Hydraglide? Or a Brough Superior? Jeez Tom, too much bike there buddy....

9.2 hp from a 2 hour bolt on kit is easier

GOSH, THAT SEEMS LIKE A BIG EFFORT TO GET 9HP ON THAT OLD RELIC. OUR BOLT ON 88CC KIT PUTS THE SACHS MADASS 50 AT 9.2 HP QUITE EASILY. OUR 160CC BIG BORE KIT IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE 18HP ON THE 125 MADASS. WE WILL RUN IT ON THE DYNO ,ONCE WE GET THEM IN LATER THIS MONTH.
