The issues concerning EPA-illegal scooters are well known among the scooter cognoscenti in this country. There are importers and scooter shops which make it their business to report on and "out" illegals, including some which have counterfeit EPA stickers. for anyone interested, check out the "Illegal and Bad Scooters" forum on the International Scooterist BBS.

Most of the illegal crap is coming from mainland China, thru sleazy importers who don't want to spend the money for correct EPA certification.

OK, so, like, didn't everybody know this already?

I can't believe that local cops really care about this. As long as I can produce a legitimate registration and proof of insurance, my sheriff's department doesn't seem to mind. I guess they behave differently if you cause trouble, eh?

Message from one Texas voter to Austin and Washington:

Deal with the damned illegal aliens and leave trivia like scooters alone! Four years into the Dept of Homeland Security and we still haven't put a dent into the immigration problem. We still can't process the number of needed legal aliens and we still can't stop the illegals.

But we can stop the scooters.

Ummm,...hmmm? I was going to say something but then I decided I didn't care. But, I will say this; I guess if you want to fear China and not buy their goods,....it's your life. Have fun.

No, you can't buy illegal inexpensive Chinese goods. If lots of people buy these things, then the air will get very, very, very dirty. That's why we have environmental regulations.

C'mon, guys - I'm (apparently) a member of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, and even I don't want people tooling around on these smoke-mobiles. The EPA goes too far sometimes, but keeping thousands of smokey ring-dingers off the streets seems pretty reasonable.
