Wait a minute, how about they soak those turbans in heavy starch, or oatmeal. Make 'em stiff like a model railroad tunnel. That way they could still keep their religon straight, and be protected at the same time. And if they get shot and lie wounded on Afganistan's plains, and the women come out to cut up what remains, they just roll to their turban, and have a nice snack.
