Concur. Stick with Corcoran, Matterhorn or Danner and you won't go wrong. None of that glued-on sole nonsense--keep the uppers shined and they'll outlast several soles. Also, I'd recommend the heavyweight versions without side zippers. Take a few minutes to lace them up properly, and you've got perfect fit, all-day comfort, and nobody will laugh at you. If they do, kick 'em square.

I have a unique and very helpful option for you to check out, whether you're looking for boots or have a funny-shaped foot: Westco. They make boots of the highest quality here in the USA, and they'll make them CUSTOM for your foot. They also make official boots for a number of police forces. I have a couple of pair and the regular 10-eyelet steel-toe Jobmaster workboot is my favorite boot for street riding. They're kind of old-skool looking in a Mert Lawmill kind of way (all they need is a steel shoe) but the fit is custom-perfect and the quality is outstanding.

Bates Leather Fast Lane, they no longer come in a narrow B width on the website, but they will make custom width. or if you have short feet get the ladies model which is narrower. But, try them on first or get them custom made. It is cheaper in the long run and a good boot is rebuildable.

I have yet to find anything that don't look to me like ugly padded rainboots out of the early 60's (IE: hideously gay in bright shades of red, blue and/or yellow) , or choo-choo train engineer style Harley boots with gaudy buckles with "pimp my ride" chrome highlights. Gag! Why can't manufacturers like Sidi, Alpinestars or Icon incorprate real style into their designs and still make a safe rugged riding boot? For now I will stick with steel-toe'd Vibram sole'd basic leather workboots with mid or high tops- ... and save a fortune. To each their own. Good luck.
I also own a pair of AGV Sport Touring boots and have some comments about them, though they probably won't help the original poster.
My pair will be seven years old this May. I only wear them for short trips/commuting due to the minimal armor. But I consider them to be the best-kept secret in a sub-$150 boot, and some of the best money I've spent on gear. The fit and feel was moccasin-like right out of the box, and far too comfortable for walking. I'm always tempted to leave them on instead of changing into the shoes I keep at the office. I've been caught twice in thunderstorms but had dry boots, with the exception of what my socks wicked in. My only complaint is that the plastic shifter pad lost a small chunk, probably due to a crack near the stitching holes.
For fitting/sizing, I found that the sizes might run a little big. I wear a US 10D (so a 44 usually fits in most Euro sizes) but my AGVs are a 43.
