If that were true. Suzuki and Kawasaki have their cuiser ad actors all in black too. And the hipster in the last Star ad I saw looked nothing like the traditional HD rider. I missed the press release when Honda and Yamaha announced the V twin was dead and that only inline 4s would be built for all eternity.

I guess you missed the commercial where all the Star 'tough guys' are showing off thier bikes. Maybe I can find it online for ya. You missed the press release because you ain't old enough to remember. Honda and Yamaha were the leaders in telling Harley in 1982 that the reason they were going under was because of producing the inferior V-Twin motor. Not that dumping had anything to do with it.

This one is for iamz. You know, the guy that knows everything. So Star doesn't use the tough guys for advertising eh? Why don't you look at THIS and then say "I'm wrong again" very loudly so we can all hear you.

Its true longride. The jap companies spent 20 years telling eveyone that V-2 is an inferior design. Which is true. What they did not then understand was that, regardless, that´s what people wanted. Its like mama telling you not to go after that hot ****ty girl because she wouldn´t make an ideal hausfrau.

You are right. And I think its utterly pathetic and doomed to fail.

Also their previous ad campaign was absolutely disasterous: "Its love when you don´t have to say you are broke". When I saw it I nearly puked. I didn´nt get a hard on for several hours. Geez is H-D secretly paying Yamaha´s ad agency to come up with such appalling crap? Or are they brainstorming some japanese girl school summer trainees?

They should go for the themes of quality and performance. They have those in the bag. And every boy has a little bit of engineer in him.

bull *****, Shovelheads are as good as any other bike of the time. My 1980 74" had front and rear disc brakes, electronic ignition, a factory oil cooler, got 50 mpg on unleaded and factory bags, everything bolted together with Allen heads or Stainless nut's and bolts. The Japanese were still using points and rear drums, pot metal nuts and bolts and phillips head screws, The first Goldwings didn't even have factory bags.

How many early '80's Japanese bikes are still on the road? how much are they worth? Shovelheads are worth more now than when they were new.l

Kawasaki ran one for their cruisers for a while, something along the lines of some dip ***** riding past the sheriffs office in a small town and the caption was like "just once, wouldn't it be cool to have them think "better watch this one..."

I thought yeah right, till you're spread-eagled over the cop cars hood with a Glock stuck in your ear and some 22 year old pig shaking like a leaf and screaming at you.......
