KP- You will see FIM cave to the 1200 but all the hi-tech goodies that are allowed will be disallowed. Litre Superbikes will be around for at least 5 more years- minimum! I used to be on the "750-800" cc bandwaggon but no longer. Honda made it pretty clear in a written statement a few weeks ago that they will not develop a 750-800 cc sportbike for street use. If Honda says NO then there is no reason for anyone else to develop one. Honda wants GP style bikes to remain 'experimental" as is the nature the the GP class. Just like F1, GP is about what if's. If they allow for a "new" displacement category in street bikes then the GP bikes will have to change cc size again- and no manufaturer wants to be burdened with development of a new motor any time soon.

KP- Putting power to the ground on a 330lbs bike producing 250hp is WAY different than putting 210-225 hp to the ground on the same bike. Traps are faster because they can carry more speed into corners not because the outright power is better or worse. Honda doesn't want a 800 streetbike and therefore it won't happen. Mladin may be right in his words but the "general" public loves "bigger" and will not go backwards in displacement just because the bikes "handle" better than the current crop of litre bikes. The Superbike class will live in it's current format for 5 or more years. IF your prediction comes to fruition it will be at least 5 or more years away.

Honda's VFR has had solid sales figures for some 20 years. I would not describe that as a "complete sales flop". Honda, however, needs to vastly improve the output of the bike and in doing so may need to re-design the current motor. Along with that they could stand to update the body work, but "sales flop" hardly. Anyway- NO ONE else has even bothered working with a V-4 configuration in a sport model. Honda, at the very least, has that going for them.
