"I am not sure it was the screaming that frightened your dog"

Keep visiting your therapist and work hard and someday you may stop being troubled but these sick thoughts. ;^P

Seriously, I fear you are right about MotoGP draining money from WSB. I enjoy MotoGP but over the last 10 years or so WSB has been a better show most of the time. I would hate to see the manufacturers stop supporting the Superbikes.

Joe,

I've seen most of the races since they started coming over to the US on tape back in the eighties and all the races since Speedvision started carrying them. Since there is no way to quantify a good race I guess we just disagree.

I do wonder about the "more modern" comment, the bikes in 2000 were pretty much identical to the bikes in the late eighties. Lap times, engine design and chassis design in GP were nearly stagnant between then and the 990 four-strokes this year.

As far as seeing the race tracks, I envy you. I've been to the countries but never been able to swing a trip to the track to catch a race. I hope to change that soon. Maybe a trip to Italy next September for WSB or to Spain for a GP.

Cheers,

Re: Hondas loss is Ducatis gain.

I think it was fear of him going to Yamaha's GP team. I've read he had signed a letter of intent but Honda had the right to match the offer and keep him. I've also read Yamaha is pretty steamed about this, they let Max Biaggi go thinking they would have Hayden to replace him.

Well to answer some questions for all of you.

1. Ruben Xaus is signed with Apprillia for next year so he ain't riding a honda.

2. Haga is still under contrct with Aprillia for 03

3. Ben Bostrom is going to race the RC51 in AMA for 03

4. Honda gave Nickey Hayden the MotoGP ride because Honda had to match Yamaha's offer or lose him. And Honda Japan had alot of pressure applied to them by American Honda to not let Mr Hayden go. If Colin had negotiated with Yamaha before Hayden then he would have been offered the ride. Mr Edwards being a professional decided to talk to Honda first. And it appeared he was going to be screwed for being loyal.

5. Mr. Edwards will be racing in MotoGP on a Honda next year.

6. Don't be suprised to see Hayden and Edwards running up front either because John Hopkins went from racing AMA 600 supersport and Formula Extreme to MotoGP and has consistently had top 10 finishes. While Mr Hopkins is a great racer he is not in the same league as Hayden and he is not even in the same universe as Edwards.

7. And I don't know if anyone remembers when they were developing the RCV211 Mr Edwards went over to Japan to help them test. After Rossi spent a whole week testing the bike Edwards showed up and in 15 minutes on the track turned a faster lap than Rossi. And that was without making any set up adjustments to it. All I have to say is Rossi wont have to worry about Honda being upset with him for not using the #1 on his bike after next year. Thats if Honda lets Edwards team have access to the latest and greatest parts.

8. I agree that the Imola race was the best race I have seen in WSBK in a long time. Hopefully Hodgson and Haga can be as competitve with each other next year as they were this year. As far as I have heard James Tosland will be riding for Castrol Honda next year. He is young and talented and might get a few podium finishes for them next year.

I agree with almost everything you say, but this morning amasuperbike.com (usually fairly reliable) reports that Xaus has broken off negotiations with Aprilia over Aprilia's choice of Pirelli tires for next year. Ditto for Frankie Chili.

Also, while I understand that Haga is still under contract to Aprilia, word is that it will likely be in MotoGP not SBK.
