One of the guys on the Honda 599 list painted his (formerly yellow) bike with that black truck liner stuff. It actually looked pretty good!

Yeah, for a beginning rider, it would be. But hey, look at it this way - you can get a good bike for your budget, and it will be one that is safer and easier for you to learn on. In that time, you can save up a bit more and once you've got some miles (and understanding!) under your belt, you can move up to the Triple.
