Re: WTF????!!!!

No, we should call it :

Building Understanding Learning and Logistics Super High Intensity Training.

Everyone who wants a license must attend a course in B.U.L.L.S.H.I.T. When everyone has sat through a few days of this B.U.L.L.S.H.I.T. the roads will be much safer and the government can go on to better things

Lead Follow or Get out my way..kpaul's answer to the

It's optimism like this that is getting the U.S. further behind.. You guys had your time move over an let the new greatest generation take over..Lead Follow or get out of my way.. Drivers education and motorcycle education can be trained in the schools. I had an excellent drivers edcuation program in my high school.."Ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for your country"

Re: WTF????!!!!

I wouldn't knock the USPS too badly - it's the only Federal Government Agency that is largely (at times wholly) self-sufficient.

Think about it: $0.39 to send a letter FROM anyplace in the U.S. TO anyplace in the U.S. within 2 to 4 days - Such a Deal!!

Sending a package? $8 to $10 gets you a box to stuff anything in it that fits, and it gets there within 3 days, within 10 days anyplace in the WORLD.

USPS can't be beat for small-item shipping, not even with a stick.

Now the DMV, - THAT is a waste of space...........

Forgive them they know not what they do.

You'll have to forgive the GTPB crowd. You are quite right kwh. The GPTB crowd is against all new ideas or ideas that have worked before but have been cut because of the wrong assumption that private industry can do all things better than public organizations or government. Drivers education programs were expanded during the 60s and 70s in the U.S. public high schools (15-18 year old students) and then with the national fart (flatulence) called the 80s where all things done by the government or schools were deemed ineffective and inefficient. In my daughters high school drives education was eliminated the reasoning was that private industry could do it better. Guess what? That didn't happen. Several attempts at private driving schools failed.. Now kids learn from friends or their parents... It wold be like learning to fly without a trained flying instructor. But the baby boomers love it cause less taxes means more they can spend on flat panel tvs to park their fat asses in front ot.

Re: U.K. riders are smarter

No, it just proves that the high-displacement Harley's and Big Metrics don't sell well because VAT and displacement-based taxes and licensing fees price these bikes too high for the perceived return.

Oh you are so wrong. The new leaders of the greatest generation are going to lead us to the promised land of the Big Govt Handout all provided by Big Govt Programs.

Although it's yet to be explained why the next program is going to work given the fact that all previous programs are dead failures. After seeing what's happened to the inner cities after 30 years of govt "help" I think I'll forgo more of the same. Big Govt "help" has done to Black America what the 200 years of slavery and 100 years of Jim Crow was never able to achieve. Col. Forrest is laughing in his grave.

We'll forget about public education for now.

And what's wrong with that? It keeps the commoners and other riffraff from getting above themselves. They should consider themselves that lucky that they are allowed to have running water and electricity (usually). Imagine thinking that an individual should be allowed to determine his own path in life and achieve prosperity! What poppy*****! Everyone knows that we elites know what's best for everyone and should be given supreme power.

This is what? A Reference as a Refutation?

You cite yourself as a Reference.

I'll never understand the abysmal hubris you demonstrate on this bulletin board, Cook. It makes my very Soul feel Ill to ponder upon it.

We are who we pretend to be. There is no "Motorcyclist Online Face" to display for all the world to see - there is only You when you continue in this manner.

This is my final spar with you. The others are correct in their analysis of your psyche, I was wrong to doubt them.

You should consider seeking Professional Help.

Re: U.K. riders are smarter

are you basing that on experience in the uk...because living over here thats totally the wrong assumption.

plenty of big engined bikes tourers etc ..the culture is very different thats why the cruisers dont sell .plus no 1000s of miles of straight highway to ride them on..

all road tax is the same for motorcyles regardless of displacement....

vat is a straight percentage of the value like any sales tax..

unless i missed obviously irony here :) you are way off

My Mistake - I assumed road taxes rose with displacement, much like tiered taxes on autos. Sorry about that.

And many of the Big Cruisers are at a very high price - VAT adds a hefty chunk on top of that, more that I would like to shell-out for the "privilege" of owning a "Legend".

Cruisers are not my Style, personally. But the primary reason Harley sells so well in the US is Marketing, Marketing, Marketing. If they had done the same in the UK or Europe, you'd see a LOT more Cruisers on the road, I'd bet. In fact, I seem to remember reading that they ARE ramping-up their sales-efforts overseas. "A vast, untapped Marketing Demographic" or some such crap.
