That is the best motorcycle story I have ever read and in the top 5 for short stories ever. Excellent. Got any more?

Fook yeah fred. My grandpa rode from Cincinatti to LA on a 1917 Indian Scout back in the 20's. When I was a kid, he disappeared on my mini-enduro (much to the consternation of his wife) for about an hour at El Mirage dry lake. Came back with that same big grin.

I don't know if we make people like that any more. In the 30's my dad bought a Harley in Oakland, Ca, and learned to ride it on his way back to his job in Nevada. I wonder what would happen to a guy with a shotgun draped across his handlebars nowadays.

Great story Fred, thanks for sharing. I always wonder why I think of getting a big "tourer" to do a long solo trip when I have a couple of bikes your grand-father would have thought were overkill in 1917.
