Re: The secret to slamming my head into the keyboard dead asleep

Well, I guess this article wasn't meant for me because I'm not a race nut, but...I'm sorry, this does NOT measure up to the Burns standard. Just because the web lets you lay out the entire transcript of the tape, doesn't mean you should. God, I thought this article would never end. Hello, any editors in there?

Ihave to take exception to the title. There's no "secret". Money, lots of it, is the main ingredient. And willingness to change course. Honda kept pushing the V4 and pouring Yen into it, but untimately gave up. Oh yes and a certain amount of perseverence - even after they threw in the towel and began to copy the Italians, it took them a couple years to get it right.

Not to knock Ludington. He knows how to get the most out of the hardware and the riders, a rare and valuable talent. At least Honda buys him good hardware and riders!

Don't let the complaints, including mine, get to you. It was a fine interview!

Don't worry Burnsie is over due

As my wife reminds me all the time "Life would be so boring if everyone agreed with you (me)" Because I love racing I thought it was great but I could see how someone who wasn't a race nut wouldn't like it. Buy hey I am sure Burnsie is working on something as I type to get us all worked up again. .

Hear hear. The most money buys the best talent, usually. It's a hard combination to beat. Look at the Yankees as proof.

If it just took money, life would be easy. If money is all it takes and Honda has the most money, then Honda would never lose. Ergo, it takes more than money and your argument is therefore weak.

Honda wins because of a corporate philosophy to win. Honda wins because of the corporate structure and ethic created by the company's namesake. Honda wins because Honda's purpose is winning, from the top to the bottom.

Of course it takes money, but Honda wins in every area of endeavor - even when against much larger opponents.

BTW, where did the money come from? Honda won in the showrooms, that's where. Once upon a time, Honda was just a guy with passion and determination. Now it is a big company with passion, determination and a tradition of excellence.
